I notice this as well. In my early youth, I had hopes that older people would be somehow wiser. I thought that they knew something I did not. It was exciting! Today, I have come to the conclusion that foolishness is not a matter of age, but of character. I know many senior people nowadays who are blind to truth, stubborn, and continue making poor choices in life, especially those who do not have the Faith and have succuмbed to the evils of Liberalism. It is a very sad way to end your days on earth; when instead of nourishing wisdom and virtue, on a truly supernatural way, your mind and soul deteriorates in a sea of error, as your body irremediably decays.
I think this also has a lot to do with the time period we live in. Since most elderly of today were the godless revolutionaries of the XX century. For example, most mothers and grandmothers today were the feminists and activists of the 60's and 70's sɛҳuąƖ revolt. What else can you expect? unless a true miracle of divine grace occurs, these women are as blind today as they were before, when they made so many poor choices. Today they even may be worse, because they have to justify to themselves and to the world an entire life of sin so they choose to remain in blindness. Especially the ones who killed their babies in the womb, left their husbands and homes, or remained childless in the pursue of worldly careers. It is extremely difficult to come to repentance and change themselves, so they have to be even more stubborn and keep entertaining and defending these false ideas, because to recognize an entire life full of error, is a truly disheartening thing.
