  • Just my 2 cents but for those of you who gave up the internet for Lent: Did you notice the announcement on the Pope's coming resignation came right when Lent started? Blew your Lent out of the water right off the bat!? The Devil is a mastermind, isn't he?

Well, giving up the Internet for Lent when you only use it for good is not too good of a "penance" ... Do try the penance raffle here...

We are picking one for the week and one daily. Great opportunity!

(after note: Didn't realize I posted this under the SSPX/Rome forum. It's just a habit to hit that link!)

  • Um, people who gave up the Internet for Lent aren't likely to see this.  Unless they are cheating, of course.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

  • What are the teachings of the Church in regards to conceiving a child during lent?
Are marital relations to be abstained during the lenten season even if both (husband & wife) are in complete agreement in building up a family?

The Church leaves it up to the couple to decide whether or not they will abstain (from marital relations) during lent. It could be a good penance if both spouses are okay with it, but it is not required.

I believe Eastern Rite Catholics are obliged to abstain during lent, though.
