Efforts for Lent

Just my 2 cents but for those of you who gave up the internet for Lent: Did you notice the announcement on the Pope's coming resignation came right when Lent started? Blew your Lent out of the water right off the bat!? The Devil is a mastermind, isn't he?

Well, giving up the Internet for Lent when you only use it for good is not too good of a "penance" ... Do try the penance raffle here...

We are picking one for the week and one daily. Great opportunity!

(after note: Didn't realize I posted this under the SSPX/Rome forum. It's just a habit to hit that link!)

Um, people who gave up the Internet for Lent aren't likely to see this.  Unless they are cheating, of course.

What are the teachings of the Church in regards to conceiving a child during lent?
Are marital relations to be abstained during the lenten season even if both (husband & wife) are in complete agreement in building up a family?

The Church leaves it up to the couple to decide whether or not they will abstain (from marital relations) during lent. It could be a good penance if both spouses are okay with it, but it is not required.

I believe Eastern Rite Catholics are obliged to abstain during lent, though.
