  • What a coincidence! Just a few minutes ago I looked up "Pius XII exploding corpse" on youtube, and this beautiful footage of Pope Leo came up in the sidebar. It gave me such happiness and peace.

    Thanks for posting this thread!

And BTW, on the subject of praying in Latin, I do stick to my advice to pray the Psalms in English until they become part of your mental DNA. There is a spiritual reason for this, and also a practical. When you know the Psalms really, really well, learning them in Latin is much easier, because you will recognize words and meanings as you compare the texts. So much faster progress than if you don't already know the Psalms in English.

But if you want to get into Latin right away, start with all the other prayers, antiphons, captions, short readings, collects, and responsories, excepting the readings at Matins, which you certainly want to understand. Leave the Psalms for last, so that while learning the Latin you do not deprive yourself of the rich nourishment and formation they provide.
