My 2nd Combat Rosary from Roman Catholic Gear broke this morning...I superglued it for now since I am not equipped to pull apart the decade beads, but I'm sure it won't last long. It's a sad day, I've had this one for close to three years.

Any suggestions for durable rosaries apart from Roman Catholic Gear's combat rosaries?

    God bless

  • I used to go through rosaries about every other month, then I switched, I've been using the same cord rosary for 30 years, and it has a long way to go.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe cord might be a good idea. I came across this one on Etsy that looks durable and nice, while still having beads and metal bits.

Yes indeed, I've had these as well and they are every bit as durable as they look, but not any where near as comfortable in your pocket as a cord rosary.

I have two of their cord Rosaries, carried daily for years. Also have given their Rosaries (cord) and chaplets (wire) as gifts, never had one break.

Carrying them in a pouch also helps prevent unnecessary strain on the cord or wire.

Yeah, I always carry mine in a pouch, I'm just surprised it broke. I'll check those out though, thank you

The super glue seems to be holding up for now lol

  • While expensive, my paracord rosary from catholicwoodworker.com is the nicest and toughest I’ve seen.

Those are very nice, but yes, a bit on the expensive side. I do like that you can design them. I'll certainly think about it.

lol :laugh1: I played around with the designer and made a "dream rosary": https://catholicwoodworker.com/products/custom-rosary-designer?options=21d45929-74a4-47b5-aa1a-c0c9a14a3e0f

That is quite nice as well.

  • As much as I do like some of their designs, as I bought a St. Francis of Assisi rosary from them a while ago, it's very large and not congenial to keeping with me all the time.

  • Honestly the most durable rosaries I have are just the cheap ones with plastic beads and string or rope. I have bad luck with rosaries made with the metal chain links or whatever. I would go with something rope.

  • I literally have the same rosary for the last 25 years.  Of course, I didn't always pray it daily, so maybe that's why it's lasted so long.
