I appreciate the Duggars for many things. Their example of faithful marriage, and being open to the lives that God has chosen to bless them with. Just the fact of the amount of children God has willed them to have seems to me above and beyond the miracle of childbirth. How many couples, being open to life, have that many children?
That being said, I think doing the show and apparently accepting payment for it is now beginning to be used as an attack against them. They are being accused of exploiting their children and only being on the reality show to further their own selfish agenda. I don't believe it's true ... I think the Duggars felt that being on this show would allow America to witness a moral, modest Christian family and to possibly be encouraged by it. Mr Duggar may have felt it was perfectly fair to accept some compensation for allowing cameras into their lives several days a week.
But it's been a few years now, the point has been made ... and for everyone involved ... children and parent's alike (and now especially with what Michelle has gone through in the last couple of years) I think they should say goodbye to TV.
