    • Just saw this on gloria.tv called "Rediscovering the Dry Mass (Missa Sicca)"

    I thought it would be a good idea to practice on weekdays. Have any of you practiced "Missa Sicca" ? If so, any tips you can share?

    • Yes I have practiced the "dry mass" on Sundays when we were locked down in 2020. The only prayers you can't say are the words of consecration. I used this article which contains PDFs on how to practice the dry mass https://onepeterfive.com/mass-canceled-pray-missal/

    I would say that if you are experienced in doing mental prayer, you can meditate the mass in your mind; you can also make a spiritual communion while doing that.

    Wait.  What?

    Dry Mass is just reading out of your hand missal, right?

    Why wouldn’t you be able to read the words of consecration out loud?  There’s obviously no intention to feign a sacrament (or any matter to feign it with).

    First time I’m hearing laymen can’t read the words of consecration out loud.

    I agree. As children when we had no Mass to go to, we prayed the Mass, consecration and all. It's an excellent way for children, even grown up converts to learn how to pray and follow along with the priest, but you have to include the words of consecration, so you can take your spiritual communion!
