  • I did not go to a wedding which took place recently on my dad's side of the family because my cousin and his girlfriend refused to take the steps to get married in the Catholic Church because they wanted to get married on their own terms.

    One of my cousin's on  my mom's side of the family has a wedding planned for November. I believe he had been married before. My mom and her sisters' have been invited to the bridal shower. One of my aunt's called all her sisters' to let them know the Catholic Church does not allow them to attend this bridal shower and wedding because these two people have been living together outside of marriage.

    Today I found out from an uncle, my mom and some of my aunts on my moms side of the family are more angry at us Traditional Catholics than they have ever been.

    I don't think I will be able to have a decent conversation with mom anytime soon. I don't plan on calling mom to find out what her mood is like.

    Vatican 2  relatives sure seem to like to make things difficult.  :facepalm:

  • Here are some more dangerous issues coming to the forefront in the world scene which should help spark more family drama with Vatican 2 relatives; Pope Francis opening his mouth, Economic Collapse and World War 3. :wink:

    You are absolutely right.  I can't talk with one of my brothers at all because I reject the Conciliar popes--and he apostated from the Catholic Faith and adopted the P.r.e.s.b.y.t.e.r.i.a.n.i.s.m of his wife.  He doesn't care about the pope issue, per se, he's upset with me because our parents were Novus Ordo Catholics until their deaths and he sees me as dishonoring them because I think I'm "too good for their church."

    One of my sisters recently abandoned the Novus Ordo for reasons she won't explain but one thing is for sure--she doesn't want to hear anything about tradition from me.

    The only reason we don't fight at all is because I live 2,000 miles away from anyone in the family.

  • A good verse to reflect upon from Holy Scripture whenever this type of situation arises, which for some of us, it is a daily cross:

    Quote from: Christ Our Lord
    Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law And as a man's enemies shall be they of his own household.

    ...He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for me, shall find it.
    If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • Matthew has some very good advice in the rules section of this forum that I thnk may apply here;

    you may strongly disagree with some of them, but you have to have enough humility to "live and let live" and "agree to disagree".

     In all things, charity -- we can never dispense ourselves from the law of Charity. Christ desires that all men be saved, and no one on earth is worthy of our hatred. Only the devils in hell may be hated. Since the Church does not declare anyone to be in Hell, we may only pray for the deceased -- not hate them. When disagreeing with other members of the forum, we must keep in mind that we will be judged on how much we loved God, and by extension our fellow men. God loves us with the highest kind of love, so the closer we draw to God, the more WE will love our fellow men as well. This was displayed again and again in the lives of the Saints. On this heading, telling other members that they are hell-bound, or other egregious uncharitable behavior, is not tolerated.
