  • Dr. Feser was recently recommended to me by Hobbledehoy. He is Thomist philosopher who is taking on the New Atheists (Hitchens, Hawkins, etc.). I'm currently reading , but Hobbs told me [url=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1587314517/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1587314517&linkCode=as2&tag=httpwwwchanco-20 Last Superstition: A Refutation of the New Atheism is very well done.

Anways, I found the quote rather humorous and wanted to share it.

'When the finger points at the moon, the idiot looks at the finger.' [...] the material world points beyond itself to God; but the secularist sees only the material world. The material side of human nature points beyond itself to an immaterial and immortal soul; the secularist sees only the brain and body. The sɛҳuąƖ act points beyond itself to marriage and family; the secularist sees only the sɛҳuąƖ act. And so on, and on and on. What else can one say? It's the moon, stupid" (267). - Edward Feser in "The Last Superstition"

  • His blog is entertaining and informative too. You probably know about it, but for the benefit of others, here is the link:

Of course there is a conspicuous air of political correctness there, because he is trying to reach the widest possible audience. You'll find an interesting Thomistic perspective on some past and contemporary "relevant" debates (e.g. engagement with the so-called new atheists, or with intelligent design proponents), but in my experience you won't find much of anything on feminism or the Jєωs, for example.

Wow, that's a brilliant way of saying it.

Thank you for sharing that one.

  • Thank you for the links s2srea and Graham.
He lives in Los Angeles - I wonder what traditional chapel he attends.

Quick aside, I miss Hobbledehoy - he doesn't post on CI any longer?
