  • Does anyone have hope in becoming a recognized saint? Has anyone thoughts on this?
What sets you apart from the rest of humanity?

  • In saner times anyone with such aspirations would, by that fact alone, be disqualified.  Of course, nowadays anything goes.

We should strive to be saints, but not for the acclaim of the people, but for the love of God.  Whether we get canonized or not is irrelevant.

  • St Therese used to say before she died that she was a saint.

It might seem like vanity, but if you know that your life could help others, would you not want to write works, as the many saints have done, that the church would benefit, and so you would have more mercy from God for saving others? Those who can benefit the faith ought to write works, it is their duty, and if they hope to be honored because of their works, so be it, that is part of their reward. They will have spiritual children to call on them if they go to heaven.

I'm hoping to make it to Heaven or purgatory.
May God bless you and keep you

  • My only chance to get canonized is if I get imprisoned and martyred in a FEMA camp. :smoke-pot: :smoke-pot: :smoke-pot:

  • Only if I could be excommunicated by the current bunch of apostates first.

Otherwise, in future, nobody would believe it.

Our Lord promised in the Apocalypse to give each of us who is saved a new name.  Each of us is unique and precious to Him.

  • SG, will you please post when & where St. Therese said that she WAS a saint?  That doesn't sound like something she would say.

Every Catholic wants to be a saint.  Being canonised is another issue.  Wouldn't humility preclude a desire to be canonised?  And what does canonisation mean these days?  Having your name on a list beside JPII?
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • To want to be a saint is one thing, that is what one is supposed to have as a goal, to want to be a canonized and recognized saint is however quite something else.

  • At one time, but in a couple of weeks to be placed in the same boat with JPII or JXXIII ?

Now, I am not so sure.

It is more like the Presidential Medal of Freedom- Bush gave it to Muhammed Ali to get African American Votes. Okay, Ali was a draft dodger who offended our veterans. He threw his Gold Medal in a river and punched his wife.

I think I would rather be an unknown saint at this point, thank you very much.

Couldn't have said it better, especially JM here.

You couldn't be more wrong, soulguard.  You obviously know nothing about the real St. Therese.

And this is a good example of it.  So by your thinking, no one lives a really holy life unless they write works.  But that's obviously false.

Wrong again.  That's three for three.  Batter-up!

There won't be any, Thorn, because there are none.
