  • St. Peter Julian Eymard – Bad Catholic vs Good Protestant

People often say, “It is better to be a good Protestant than a bad Catholic.” That is not true! That would mean that one could be saved without the true faith. No. A bad Catholic remains a child of the family, although a prodigal; and however great a sinner he may be, he still has a right to mercy. Through his faith, a bad Catholic is nearer to God than a Protestant, for he is a member of the household, whereas the heretic is not. And how hard it is to make him become one!

    St. Peter Julian Eymard
i have known catholics who are just... sorry, NOT Christian. I think they are equally bad... in the present, that is.. The future? Who knows what the future holds? Even God does not know the future b/c he gives us free will..

  •  Jesus is a doctor

it just stands to reason that He would make you a better person... nt necessarily IQ wise b/c that's not what it is all about... but He definitely enlightens the mind, literally... whereas those in sin (protestants are in sin if they hate the Original Church for no good reason) are in darkness and therefore their mental faculties are not the best

Having the one true Faith has little to do with intelligence and everything to do with grace.
    .
Some of the greatest saints have been rather challenged in ability to learn or compete with their peers.
    .
St. Thomas Aquinas was known as "the Dumb Ox."
    .

    .
St. Joseph of Cupertino was terrified of the examination he would be given wherein he would have to recite a portion of Scripture by memory, in Latin. They had a selection of about 10 excerpts from the Bible to choose from and the best any seminarian could do was to memorize all 10. But Joseph was unable to make any progress on 9 of them, and try as he may, he could only retain one of the 10. Then when he went to his examination, the panel of examiners told him to recite that very one, the one he had learned. He was so happy he spoke with zeal and joy, which made the judges try to make him stop!
    .
St. John Vianney had a similar experience, whereby he had so much trouble learning the required curriculum he was terrified of being expelled, but he managed to make it all right. Then he was stationed in Ars, which was a small village of party-revelers and pub hoppers. Over the course of a few years gradually all the pubs had to close because the customers stopped coming, for they were spending their time in the Church or at home praying, instead.

i know IQ in and of itself is not important in being a saint or a good Christian. And yet it seems to me that if your mind is enlightened by Christ, you will be smart enough to realize ... things like this: That the Catholic Church is the one founded by Christ and all others came after1521 and are man-made, therefore NOT "the Church" and so we cannot listen to those wannabe "churches

  • Maybe Protestants as an aggregate do have a higher IQ, but then again maybe they do not.

The real question Protestants should be asking themselves is why did Our Lord tell the apostles that He would be with them until the end of the ages but then only get around to establishing a Church in the 1600's...  All Protestant leads go no further back than the 1600's.

Lines of logic have to lead to somewhere solid, otherwise you're on a dead end trail.  All Protestant theologians should be wondering why the lines of logic for Protestantism were invented by men and also 1600 years after Our Lord's Ascension.

Having a higher IQ would be a real bragging right but what good are bragging rights if your soul is scorched with the fires of Hell for eternity?

    I'm trying not to LOL
Hell is not funny. The fact that it never ends is the worst part, i guess.... Anyway, presumably people w/ high IQs are generally more logical? I mean, yeh, as you say... how logical is it that protestants claim to be more Christian (Catholics are not seen as Christian at all sometimes) and yet their religion only goes back to the 16th century? That is the most illogical thing I can think of... What? Jesus wanted there to be 1500 years of no Church??? ?
Most Protestants refuse to discuss anything w/ me and I know it is b/c they have no answer to this kind of thing... cowards... wimps
