    • I was always worried about that guy. He seemed to come to religion by means of the Dimond brothers. Those guys have started their own personality cult by which their members think they know more than every Catholic theologian, pope, and Doctor of the Church for nearly the past millennium, because they learned the "true" interpretation of the Fathers from a couple of guys in New York. It's probably a bit of a rush for a while, but then gradually common sense starts to set in and you realize you've been misled, and the weird cult you joined isn't actually the Catholic Church, and you are left wondering where to go from there.

    Diggie was gradually distancing himself from the Dimonds, but it looks like it was too little, too late. He wasn't their first victim, and he sure won't be there last. :(

    I've always wondered, are the dimond followers actually in contact with the dimonds? Their behaviour online is very uncharitable and you would think that the dimonds wouldn't want people making their name look bad. Also I've seen people so anti-dimond that they act in a similar manner to the dimond followers.

    Makes me glad that I broke from exclusively following the Dimonds when I did at the beginning of last year. They served their purpose in introducing me to traditional Catholicism in a way where traditional apologetics wouldn't have worked, and I still watch some of their new videos, but they were ultimately leading me to a spiritual dead end. Had I not discovered that there was more to traditional Catholicism than what they taught, I would have remained a home-aloner cut off from the sacraments. Talking to an actual traditional priest and going to Mass has been infinitely more beneficial to my spiritual life, not to mention having access to the sacraments after properly being received into the Church. Because of the Dimonds, I was at one point considering waltzing in to an Eastern Catholic church to receive sacraments and then bail. How foolish that would have been!

    Boy, I'm glad that you did too. Pastoral development should be well focused with a world of good intentions.

    I don't know the EO term. Eastern Orthodox? hmm. What a way to go. I think Jay Dyer's on that path. EO could be Evangelical or Episcopalian Options too I guess.

    • I've been somewhat familiarized with that and found it off, the Palamite distinction and the rejection of the filioque. However, when I lived in a different place I used to attend a Byzantince Catholic service often enough. It was a big city and they had a Tridentine Latin mass (at a different church, of course) too. It's fine the way the Byzantines pray the Creed, saying "to", and not "and", and making the sign of the cross in a different way, but the Orthodox business is not for me. I could be totally insane and I would not become an Orthodox. We must have method in the madness and it must be correct and for a good end.

    Because a lot of GO are ethnic Greeks that want a cultural outlet and a religious service for Easter and weddings.

    Many Greek Orthodox including the many in my family are not very orthodox at all.  Most are registered democrats in my area.  And my family members too.

    Years ago, when I was on facebook , I was friends with a Greek Orthodox bishop who was like us in many ways.

    I live on east coast which is full of democrats.  Maybe if the Catholic Church, Greek Orthodox and others would Christians instead secular humanists, the whole east coast would be red.

    • In any case, I do miss DL.  He was probably THE poster here who thought about nearly every issue the same way I did, and we agreed on 99% of everything, and even where we disagreed, it was more a matter of detail or emphasis than anything of substance.  So I found in him a like mind, and it's been a great loss not to have him here.  I am praying for him and his family.  He's been through a lot.
