    I've seen his name but know nothing about the guy, because I could hardly care less what he thinks.  Is he yet another grifter trying to capitalize on religion instead of getting an actual real job?

    He does a good job exposing Satanic occultists and the Deep State but he's a firm Orthodox Christian who thinks he can debunk (true) Catholicism. We all know the Novus Ordo is easily debunked. The debate would be on Church dogma and history. :popcorn:

    Lad cannot confront Jay Dyer because Dyer would use "official" Catholic teachings and principles to confront him. This would be fine if Dyer did so with a "learned" Catholic scholar. However, Lad adheres to certain "heterodox/uniquely hybrid" positions and thus wouldn't be able to accurately represent "True Catholicism."

    Lad recently admitted so when he stated that he disagrees with "certain" Catholic positions held by pretty much every Traditional Catholic priest, even though said priests "graduated" from seminary and dedicated their lives to Catholic teachings and principles.

    I suggested in a post earlier today that Lad should teach us all, both clergy and laity, what the " true" Catholic teachings are since he feels he knows more than even the Catholic clergy. I'm sure his teachings would be edifying to all of us.

    Isn't Dyer the guy who has serially converted, abjured, then reverted to Eastern Orthodoxy?

    • Some time ago a few of the more prominent Orthodox channels popped up among the recommended videos
    on my Youtube homepage. 
    One of them happened to be Dyer's. He enjoyed an influx of followers, mostly compromised of young men
    who had become disillusioned with the PUA(pick up artist) and MGTOW(men going their own way) movements. 
    These men, many of whom had no religious background, were likely impressed by Dyer's ability to cite various
    councils and use a lot of theological jargon in attempt to affirm that the Orthodox church is the true brand of Christianity.
    Dyer...and many like him, always show themselves with a large library of books in the background, no doubt to give the impression of how learned and scholarly they are. 
    These people are low rent, amateur theologians and have never set foot in a seminary. Academically they attended 3rd rate diploma mills.

    Yes, I'm beginning to come to that conclusion.  I'd rather see a respectful discussion and exchange of ideas, where both parties are seeking the truth and not attempting to "win" or "overcome" the other side.  This exacerbates the dialectic of extremes, where the sides over-react to one another, get entrenched in their positions, and often error in the opposite direction.

    If I had to structure a "debate", I would make it so that it would be alternating 2-minute segments of talking, more an exchange of ideas, a back and forth, than some kind of competition or contest, putting on display the worst qualifies of sophistry.

    Very few people are open to looking for the truth but simply want to be proven right.

    • I would have a moderator do their best to get both sides to agree to a statement of each debated point before moving on. These agreed upon points will remain visible during the debate, so there is no loss of progress causing endless circular arguing. It would also keep the individuals on point, so they don't jump around and never nail down agreed upon principles.

    That's also a good idea, to have a moderator who can keep them on topic.  I just don't like the old "you get 10 minutes, then your opponent gets 10 minutes".  With that kind of structure, you lose control immediately as each speaker could go off onto as many tangential issues as they wnat, to the point that the audience are confused regarding what the debate is even about.

    No, in fact, I, as someone who participated in both High School and College/University debate and did well there, would agree with him, realizing what a scam most debates are, and then it's compounded by the fact that most Traditional Catholics are entrenched in their "camps" so that it's entirely pointless and very few if any would be convinced by it.  I competed n debate tournaments held at Penn State, at LSU, Marquette, and many others (those are just the ones I recall offhand, the one at LSU because I got sick eating some shrimip LOL) ... and modern debate has turned to nothing but sophistic trash.

    I also know Elwin personally and can attest to the fact that he has forgotten 10 times more about Catholic history, and theology, than 90% of the posters here ever heard about ... and I often appeal to him for opinions and to tap into his vast reserves of knowledge when I'm unfamiliar with some topic.
