And how many of those refugees or immigrants are Catholics?
Food , clothing, shelter, medical and what about Jesus? But all people need food for their souls and they aren't getting that. They need Jesus.
Your two questions are not the questions to ask, Viva. We do not assist the poor because they are Catholic, but because they are needy.
See Matthew 25: 34 - 40:
Come, ye blessed of my Father, possess you the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in: Naked, and you covered me: sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me. Then shall the just answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee; thirsty, and gave thee drink? And when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and covered thee? Or when did we see thee sick or in prison, and came to thee? And the king answering, shall say to them: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it to one of these my least brethren, you did it to me.
But your two statements are spot on. The poor need Jesus, and food for their souls.
Here is yet another validly ordained priest hooked by "social justice" and doing the work of the laity. I know the scenario, having lived through that era and been quite heavily involved in those issues. He lost his identity as a priest, but never his character as a priest, which remains forever.
He is to have a vigil service, whatever that means - but no Holy Mass. Let us pray for the repose of his soul and ask God's mercy on him.
Thanks for posting, John Grace.
