I think articles like this should be approached in a prayerful, humble spirit -- not a defensive one.
People can make excuses for anything -- but risk is risk, and I think an honest person can admit to the dangers of most activities that involve our physical nature -- and at which prayer is difficult if not impossible. We need to be sober and watchful always, because our adversary the devil as a roaring lion prowls about, seeking whom he may devour...
