  • With the way everything is going in our Church, country, and world, I thought it best, since I am retired and have the time, to spend the remainder of my days in prayer and penance.

Can I get some helpful suggestions in preparing a spiritual schedule for myself?

  • Do you have a Father Lasance "My Prayer Book" ?

It lays out how to sanctify the day and  month.  Plan your devotions according to the church calendar and that way you won't get bored or stale.
Of course there are devotions that should be practiced all year round, like on Fridays at 3 PM the 5 Paters, Aves and Glorias in honour of the 5 wounds,  the DeProfundis every evening for the souls in purgatory, some devotion on Wednesdays to St. Joseph etc.

As you have this time now read through the 1858 Raccolta, some devotions are only practised once a week.  Pick the ones that appeal to you.

"Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered: and them that hate Him flee from before His Holy Face"  Psalm 67:2[/b]

Yes, I do have that prayer book. It is invaluable!   It belonged to my late mother and is still in good condition.

That's a very good idea, and I thank you.

  • Praying the Breviary would be an easy way to order your day with prayer.
