  • I have a crucifix that's similar to John Paul II's crozier in that the crossbeam is curved downward slightly.  What should I do with it?  It's been blessed.
What return shall I make to the Lord for all the things that He hath given unto me?

  • Is there anything inherently wrong with it?  It's normal in every way except the bent crossbeam.  If there's nothing wrong with it, I'll keep it.
What return shall I make to the Lord for all the things that He hath given unto me?

  • I would trash it. A bent cross is a satanic symbol.

If it's blessed you shouldn't throw it away.  It should be buried or else burned.  If it's precious metal it could be melted down.  You could sell it for scrap silver or gold, or whatever it is.  But if it's just cheap metal you could put it in a ceramic cup with corrosive liquid in it like acid but don't breathe the fumes.

The reason you can sell it is, the moment you OFFER it for sale it loses its blessing, so then it won't be blessed anymore.  But to prevent it from being used by someone else, it should be deformed first like crushed or bent into a clump. You could use a hammer on an anvil for that.

But I wouldn't have anything to do with any bent-arm cross.  Some of them don't have any INRI on top so they're not really a crucifix at all, but just a cross, like the one that fell on April 24th in Cevo, Italy and killed Marco Gusmini;  that wasn't a crucifix, but merely a cross wit a corpus, and a very disrespectful one at that.

It does have the INRI.  The post isn't bent like the one that fell, just the crossbeam.

If it's satanic, could someone provide evidence?  Thanks.  I'm new to this.

  • I have the same concern/question! :)
My crucifixes have a slight bend to the crossbeam. In all other ways Our Lord is beautifully and modestly potrayed. They all are blessed and have INRI.
Coming from a protestant background, that always has symbolized the weight of all the sins of the world. But again this is a slight bend. The ones I've seen pictured here are pretty hideous looking.
    Opinions would sure be appreciated!

Sorry, I don't have any "evidence" that you'd be satisfied with, apparently because I have not kept notes.  But I have asked several Trad priests over several decades of time, about the down-bent crossarms of late model crucifixes and this is what they have told me:

Just go back to the time when Our Lady said the Third Secret should be released if Sr. Lucy was still alive, because it would be clearer by then.  (The alternative was that if Sr. Lucy had died by say 1958 or whatever, then something would have happened by that time in the world that would make the Secret clearer without us having to wait for 1960).

At this time, 1960, there were no crucifixes with down-bent arms to be found, except among satanists.  Remember the "peace sign" of the 60's?  It was a circle with like a bird's footprint in it?

That was actually a cross upside-down and the arms broken, as if gravity pulled them down.  Does it look different now, that you know about that?

These priests have told me that in previous centuries such as hundreds of years ago, the cults of satanism and witchcraft had come up with many symbols to blaspheme the Church and Our Lord, so it doesn't take much imagination to see how such things as bending the crossarms down or turning the cross upside-down would be things that would symbolize this blasphemy.

It has already been argued, "But St. Peter was hung on an upside-down cross, and he's a saint!"  Yes, but that doesn't slow satanists down.  In fact, they use this as an excuse to justify their symbol, and to confuse the listener.

Check out modern Jєωelry -- costume and high end -- it's now becoming popular to have a neclace with a cross pendant (no corpus or INRI) that is SIDEWAYS:

These things are all over the fashion shops of malls and online stores all over the world.  When did this happen?  It has only been the past year or so, but it has spread like wildfire.  I've met young women with this and when I ask them about it they really perk up and take PLEASURE in the fact that someone is NOTICING them.  (I was actually only noticing their stupid necklace.)  They have all told me they don't know of any pop star or famous actress or filthy-rich-strip-club dancers (they don't exist, actually) that wears one, but they're just wearing it because they 'like it'.

Please don't call me a misogynist when I say, "Typical Woman."  Because it is unquestionably a feminine attribute to make objective decisions like this based entirely on your FEELINGS and not on any intellectual doctrine or fact of the Faith.  You should ask a priest if your down-bent crossarm crucifix is something that is GOOD for your salvation or GOOD for your damnation.

And you should pay attention to what he says, NOT HOW YOU FEEL about what he says.

If you want to be up with the latest trend you can't be into yesterday's fashions.  The downward-bent crosses are so yesterday.

What you should be looking for is a SIDEWAYS cross!

And who knows what the NEXT fad will be?  Probably upside-down, no?

Just be sure you don't let the arms sag down and put any circle around it because that was already a fad in the 1960's ---  you know, when the Third Secret would have been clearer.

These priests have told me that anything OTHER than the real cross is potentially satanic.

So, if I were you, I'd be really okay with saying, "I'm not even going to GO there."  And have nothing to do with poison in your cross.

  • Thanks very much, Neil.  I know you're not a misogynist.

I don't have the means to either bury it, or have it melted down.  Could I just throw it into the garbage as long as I wrap it well enough that it won't become visible?

  • Here is a study on the bent cross v the Traditional Cross.   In the article
it is admitted that the bent cross is a revival of the satanic cross after
    Vatican 2.
JP2, and I will not call him a saint, used the bent cross to show the
sinful world and the devil that he was not a traditional Pope
To the faithful Catholic, lose your Faith.

Warning, this article comes from a Protestant source.  However,
there is truth, and some error.

Looking at pre-1960 crucifixes is a good piece of advice. TY!

These issues I was aware of. If I remember correctly it was also representative of communism and anarchy. I've recently heard it has kabbala tie-in but I'm not read up on that. Sorry.

Simply put.. ugh! A crucifix is not a fashion statemment and not for attention! Also, those are ugly in a " my soul finds that wrong way" and other ways.

Definitely going to speak to a trad priest as I find one here. And listen.
I don't blame you for thinking many women are guided by feel good more than doctrine. Sorry if I gave that impression.
I appreciate being able to get feedback at this forum a lot. It's a help. This convert who is also learning what traditional faith is sure appreciate the feedback!

  • I don't have any images but I recall some recent pope(s?) using an upside down crucifix around the neck supposedly for the purpose of having it handy to hold upright to bless crowds.  I guess it was too much trouble to have a long enough chain instead.
