Title: Corpus Christi Procession (1914-1918)
Post by: Always on June 08, 2023, 08:49:01 AM
Hope as many as possible can take part in a Corpus Christi Procession!  In the vintage video it doesn't appear that the people were bothered one bit by the downpour of rain!

Thank you for this.  Many years ago when I was in a Franciscan Novus Ordo parish, we use to always have an outdoor procession with the altars and a canopy.  Children would wait for the procession to pass and shout, “Here comes the King”!  Alas, immediately after the diocesan priests took over, it was dropped.

I have a book, 1898, stating that the feast of Corpus Christi is no longer a day of obligation in the USA. Question: does anyone know when it was no longer?

Thank you for posting this! It is truly amazing. We need to preserve this footage of our heritage from the past before it is all lost to time.
