  • One of the things that might help inoculate (preserve) a child from liberal-insanity-brainwashing that they'll get in college is a good, rural upbringing with plenty of common sense and hard work.

It's hard to get detached after 18 years of that.

These idiots we observe today have been living in a fantasy land since the day they were born -- a world where Man is "god", everything is artificial, food is created at the grocery store, and everyone has 8+ hours of free time every day. The garbage man hauls away your garbage (you don't have to burn or sort it), the water company purifies and pumps you your water, the City processes your sewage, some guy mows your lawn (what little there is of it), and you have no animals to take care of (any dogs and cats don't count -- they just hang around INSIDE the house, and you buy them canned or bagged cat/dog food from the grocery store)

Life isn't any different when it's hot or cold, dry or rainy, etc. Paved driveways, advanced drains on every street take care of all the runoff water, etc.

You don't have to know how to do anything -- even basic navigation is taken care of now by your cell phone or car's GPS system. Cooking is taken care of by the plethora of delicious restaurants all around you (which most Americans can afford to regularly patronize -- what with 2 children and dual incomes!) The kitchen is seldom used for cooking, although they are equipped with the most advanced and expensive stoves, refrigerators, etc.

And if anything breaks, of course you throw it out and buy a new one. No chance for work there.

Every inconvenience and opportunity for work has been done away with. Even the jobs which provide the money to buy all these conveniences are often work-free! How many jobs involve real work or hard work anymore?

The previous owners of our home didn't even have a dishwasher installed! That shows you how often they cooked. They also had a cheap, shallow, 50/50 kitchen sink. It was hard to fill a gallon milk jug, nevermind wash a large pot or cookie sheet. We had to get a better sink (which I installed myself -- first time!)

Keep in mind, the previous owners were the ones who had our house built. They could have easily upgraded the sink for $75 or $100. What woman wouldn't? I'll tell you: a woman who has her own career, doesn't cook, and doesn't care.
