This "college for everyone" idea pushed by our government and public and higher education in recent years is complete garbage and makes of college degree's worthless paper- in most cases. Its the reason that so many graduate today without being able to get a job. "You have a degree? Cool. What can you actually 'do'?"

I really enjoyed this interview. Ben Shapiro (my favorite Jєω :D) interview's Mike Rowe. Rowe has an initiate which encourages people to pursue skilled trades which, according to him, have millions of job shortages currently. Any Catholic man (young or otherwise) looking to support a family should consider this excellent advice, when applicable (College isn't "bad"; its just not for everyone- and that's okay!).

(*Warning- these are not Catholics talking. One is a Jєω and one is an I-don't-know-what-probably-secular-humanist-probably. There are a few annoying references to Neitzsche  and Kant, which I don't approve of.)

The public schools start pushing the "college degree for everyone" trash in Kindergarten or even earlier if there is a UPK program.  This is to insure every adult is so deeply mired in debt that a government assigned job will be the only means of getting out---take it or starve.  It's drummed into children that people who lack college degrees are stupid, ignorant fools, to be pitied now, and hated later.  

Go to college/university only if;
1.  Your chosen field requires it.
2. You're 99.9% you want to work in that field.  (Shadow someone who does your dream job for a year to be certain.)
-or- 3. You're already in the field, like it, and need more education to advance or keep your job.
4.  You are strong in your Faith, (Know your doctrine as piety alone won't stand up against the liberal onslaught.)
5.  You are emotionally, socially, spiritually, financially mature and secure.  (For most, going straight to college from high school is a bad idea.)*
6.  You can hold down a job and manage money. *Same comment.
7.  You have a Plan B in case it doesn't work out, is interrupted, must be post-poned.
8.  You can function in the non-tradcat world.  (Really!  Not just, "I think so.")
9.  You can afford it.  (You're independently wealthy, your parents don't mind losing the money they co-signed on, you are able to work and go to school. Know the latter, no guess work allowed!)
10. You are familiar with the school and the outlying community, its atmosphere, culture, cost of living, availability of Mass, for socializing, jobs, leisure activities (You won't have much time, but humans need some time to relax or they burn-out.), climate-as in weather.

Answer no to any of the above?  Best to reconsider or wait.
University is for adults, not kids.

There is other point that women rarely need to go onto post secondary to help their families. There isn’t much you can’t learn on the internet as supplementary to whatever you might need to learn to earn an income from home or to run a homeschool.
Bringing that significant amount of debt into a marriage is crippling for families and, of course, a grave risk to losing your values as a Catholic.
Just because you didn’t pay through the nose for a degree doesn’t mean you can’t hold your own as an intellectual. My husband is the seriously one of the smartest man I know and does HVAC.

In Minnesota, a journeyman pipefitter (i.e., HVAC guys) makes $90k.

Other trades like electrician and tinner (sheetmetal fab) are in the same ballpark, and even slightly higher.

Absolutely no reason at all to go to college "to get a good job."

There are also sales jobs that pay even more, which require no college degree (though some do).

Whichever of my children wash out of the seminary (I'm going to make them all give it a whirl in France, either at the SAJM or Avrille), I will tell to either go into one of these trades, or, get a AA law enforcement degree from a junior college (so they can live at home while going to school), then they can go live out in the wilderness as conservation officers (less money, but lower cost of living out in the wild, and the joy of getting out of the city which I will never have).

College is out of the question for any of them, and unthinkable for my daughter (good heavens, the filth!).

And the money I wasted for believing the marketing scheme that I had to go to college....

The risk of total corruption is extremely high. After attending College, your daughter will most likely be NOT a virgin, will accuмulate insane amounts of debt, and also have tattoos, among other degenerate signs.

Help!  Please count me out of the above description!  I hold degrees from a state college and two large secular universities.  I encountered many women of your description that I decided early on to go in the opposite direction!  I graduated with purity intact, debt free because I worked my way through, tattoo free.  
But I do admit to never having been one to go along with the crowd.

Going to a liberal arts college was probably the biggest financial mistake of my life. I spent four years being "educated" by mostly leftist professors while being immersed into a student body that largely engaged in degenerate practices (ie. binge drinking and unnatural vices) for recreation. Upon graduating, I made only $5 per hour more than when I started college, but the degree had cost me and my parents more than $50,000.

If could do it over again, I would have gone to a trade school or a college for engineering.

I hear you.

And this is the case for thousands of people in this country. Sad.

And for women is even more disastrous because they irreversibly waste their prime years of fertility.
