Catholic church vandalized with pro-abortion graffiti in Houston on Mother’s Day

HOUSTON (LifeSiteNews) — A Catholic church in Texas was vandalized Sunday after pro-abortion activists publicly called for protests at Catholic churches on Mother’s Day.
The words “Pro-choice is pro-life” were spray-painted on the front doors of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houston on Sunday night, according to the parish Facebook page.

“This is what the angry, hateful anti-Catholic pro-choice activists did to our church doors last night,” wrote Friar Mariano D. Veliz, O.P., on the social media platform.
“The choice to murder unborn babies is not pro-life,” he wrote, calling on supporters to “Pray for an end to this evil” and closing his post with: “In Christ with Blessed Mary.”
In a later update to the original post, Veliz added that the “same message” which was painted on the front doors of the church had also been spray-painted on its side doors, which he had not initially seen.

Holy Rosary secretary Dianne Gongora told LifeSiteNews on Monday the parish filed a report with the Houston Police Department (HPD) regarding the incident.
HPD public information officer Victor Senties affirmed in a phone call that the department took a report of the vandalism Monday morning and is in the early stages of investigating. Senties said the vandalism is estimated to have occurred between 9 and 11 p.m. May 8.
Holy Rosary pastor Fr. Peter Damian hαɾɾιs did not immediately respond to LifeSite’s request for comment.
“[P]ro-abortionists show their true colors by sneaking around in the middle of the night, vandalizing sacred places, and stealing the blessed sacrament,” a parishioner of Holy Rosary named Lawrence told LifeSite via social media Monday.
“The fact that the city of Houston seems to have little interest in protecting Catholics from targeted harassment is a crying shame,” he added. “Catholics should defend the House of God and the Body of Christ from those who defend the murder of our society’s children.”

Holy Rosary, which is part of the archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and is staffed by Dominican friars of the Province of St. Martin de Porres, serves a large parish community and offers six Masses, including a Latin Mass, every Sunday.

While it’s unclear who vandalized the church, the graffiti appeared on Mother’s Day, the day pro-abortion activists affiliated with the group “Ruth Sent Us” had encouraged those opposed to protections for the unborn to “tand at or in a local Catholic Church” to protest the potential overturning of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that established a federal “right to abortion” throughout all 50 states.

Activists like those associated with Ruth Sent Us, which was named for the late pro-abortion Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, have ramped up their efforts after the unprecedented leak of the Supreme Court’s majority opinion draft in the crucial Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case last week.
Dobbs concerns Mississippi’s ban on abortion after 15 weeks’ gestation, which has inspired a bevy of similar pro-life laws in Republican-led states nationwide.

According to the leaked draft opinion, whose authenticity was later confirmed by Justice John Roberts, the Supreme Court is angled to rule in favor of Mississippi by overturning both Roe v. Wade along with Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992), which upheld Roe.

After the leak of the docuмent, Ruth Sent Us published the home addresses of six pro-life Supreme Court justices’ on their website and called for pro-abortion protests at Catholic churches.
Pro-abortion activists have subsequently protested outside the homes of the Supreme Court justices in an effort to sway the opinion of the Court to uphold Roe, and targeted Catholic churches and pregnancy centers over Mother’s Day weekend.

Holy Rosary in Houston wasn’t the only Catholic church in the Lone Star State to be targeted this past weekend. St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in nearby Katy, Texas, was also attacked Sunday.
St. Bartholomew’s pastor, Father Christopher Plant, said in a Monday tweet that the church’s tabernacle had been stolen the previous night, noting that law enforcement officers are currently investigating the theft.
“Please pray for us and for those who committed this criminal sacrilege,” Fr. Plant wrote, encouraging anyone with information to contact the parish office.

Meanwhile, in Denton, Texas, pro-life pregnancy center Loreto House was vandalized with pro-abortion graffiti reading: “Not a clinic” and “Forced birth is murder.”
Before the reported vandalism and theft in Texas, Ruth Sent Us had lashed out at Catholics for their “weaponized prayer,” saying the radical pro-abortion activists would “remain outraged after this weekend” and promising that they will “be burning the Eucharist to show our disgust for the abuse Catholic Churches have condoned for centuries.”
LifeSiteNews reached out to the office of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner for a statement regarding the vandalism of Holy Rosary Catholic Church but has yet to hear back.

How to protect your church from the pro-abortion ‘Night of Rage’

The Faith & Reason panel discusses concrete steps churches and pregnancy centers should take to protect their members and property from pro-abortion violence. Jack Maxey also gives an update on the signs of Western escalation against Russia and warns our elites not to do more harm than good.

(LifeSiteNews) — On this week’s episode of Faith & Reason, the panel discussed at length all the different ways of preparing for the announcement of radical pro-abortion groups, such as “Jane’s Revenge,” that there will be a “Night of Rage” if the Supreme Court rules in favor of life.

Liz Yore gave an introduction to this topic, saying it is “most appropriate” that such radical groups be declared “domestic terrorists,” as some congressional Republicans are now demanding. We need to “restore law and order,” she added.

Jack Maxey said he sees a “demonic element” in this pro-abortion rage, adding that it is “very telling” there’s a desire “to maintain a system of violence about the most innocent by using violence.” In his eyes, these radical pro-abortionists, “in their desperation,” are now “exposing themselves.” The eyes of many American and global citizens might now be opened.

John-Henry Westen found it “an incredible turn of events with the sort of acceptance of violence.”

“We saw that, I think, first in a major way with Black Lives Matter, the media saying ‘oh, it’s so peaceful’ while the buildings are burning in the background,” he said.

Liz Yore gave some concrete steps that churches and pregnancy centers can take in order to protect themselves against assaults: for example, getting in touch with local law enforcement, as well as maintaining daily communication within the community. In her eyes, this situation is “an opportunity to come together and to really build a community of life.”

John-Henry Westen added that it is important to “form a security team at your parish, at your church community, at your pro-life center.” He also proposes getting involved younger men who are perhaps currently less involved in parish life, but who actually might be drawn back into the Church if they’re asked to help.

Here the gun question came into the discussion. Maxey pointed out that gun rights are part of our human rights, “to protect [our] own lives.”

“We are endowed by our Creator and our Founding Fathers with certain inalienable rights,” he explained, “so that we could defend ourselves from tyranny.”

The panel also discussed the idea to ask some members who have concealed weapon permits to get organized. They could get liability insurance and thus provide some extra protection as private citizens. In addition, to use only one door as an entrance for a while might give additional protection as well. If one cannot get a local police car placed in front of the building during a gathering, one could also place a normal car there with a security sign, just to send a message to potential protesters.

Father James Altman confirmed from his experience as pastor how important it is to work well with local law enforcement.

Switching gears, Jack Maxey introduced the topic of the Ukrainian conflict, where we see signs of escalation. For example, Lithuania has blocked Russia from transporting certain goods to Kaliningrad with the explicit support of the United States. He said he sees that as “another unnecessary provocation from the West.”

In his eyes, the “food inflation and the fuel inflation” are caused by governmental decisions in the West, and the increasing conflict with Russia will worsen it. For example, Russia is now exporting many goods to China, with Russia becoming the “largest single provider to China.” Such an alliance can become detrimental to the West, and Maxey argues in favor of finding ways to collaborate with Russia, rather than alienating them.

“How much escalation do they really want,” he asks in light of the fact that Ukraine recently sent a “drone deep into Russian territory” and set a gasoline refinery on fire. Many countries in the world are not following the U.S.’s war policy with Russia, the political analyst adds, because “they want their fertilizer, because they don’t want their people to starve.” And starvation will come, according to Maxey, for Africans most likely at the end of this summer.
For Father Altman, this creation of chaos worldwide is “all intentional” to prepare the world for some sort of “savior,” be it the Antichrist or a “global superpower.”
Jack Maxey said he hopes for the coming of “more rational” minds who can help seek true solutions to this crisis, and Liz Yore encouraged us all to “go back to our roots, go back to our faith.”

“People are going to return to their knees,” she said.

While I understand the eagerness of some to "take care of business" when/if the time comes, the real problems begin with trying to prove innocence and stay out of jail without going bankrupt and insane.

In general, the criminal justice system is criminal and there is not much justice in it. The corruption of this system is one of the biggest threats to freedom.
