  • I'm looking to add some crucifixes to my home.  I prefer the traditional crucifix and am looking for anyone out there to point me in the right direction.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

  • Yeah, that's nice Mathieu, I found a very nice crucifix on E-Bay.  Pre WWII era.  Well over two feet in height, and a decent price.  I'd suggest E-Bay, surfing the net, keeping your eyes open on garage sales and local ads on the net...

  • On the subject of crucifixes, I would love to find the crucifix designed by Dr. Pierre Barbet, author of A Doctor at Calvary.  Based on his examination of the Shroud of Turin, the Gospels, historical information, and his experience as a surgeon/pathologist, Dr. Barbet designed a crucifix as accurately as the evidence allows.

  • Sorry, I did not even know someone responded to the Crucifix thread. I normally charge $50 for them.  They are molded from plaster of Paris with a metal rod through the center and on an oak cross. all are hand-painted.  If you are interested, by all means contact me through the "Contact" page on the website and we can work out the details.  I am more trying to spread Catholic devotion than making a living this way.  God bless you -

I was told I should have one in every room of the house.  So, I have a nice one from Amazon for meal prayers, but the rest are mostly plastic ones.  They still look nice!  And they're so cheap.  This place, for example sells 4" plastic ones for 50 cents a piece, with free delivery!  You can't beat it.

How long is the waiting period if someone orders a crucifix?

Thanks for that link that site has some very reasonable prices. I don't mind plastic if it looks nice, I can't afford a $20 crucifix at this point in my life, let alone a really nice one I have seen some for $100 or more.

At least I was able to finally find images of the crucifix by Drs. Barbet and Villandre:

Unfortunately, as best I can find, there are no reproductions available.

  • This is not the crucifix by Drs. Barbet and Villandre, but it is exactly the concept:
