  • I think we all know as Catholics the dangers of pornography. How is can warp male AND female minds alike. The dangerous expectations, and the abuse that is tied in with it. Now there is a rise in children watching porn, and practicing it on younger children. The numbers are sickening.

  • Fun fact: Most major porn sites are owned by the same (Jєωιѕн) company.

It comes straight from the pit of Hell.
If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • Parents: Do NOT give your children internet connected devices where they can browse on their own. If they must have any access to the internet at all, have it only in the living room family computer, publicly, and SUPERVISE THEM AT ALL TIMES.

    Quote
This is what priests have to deal with that no one ever talks about. This sad story happened to a Catholic family with a "responsible son."
As I said in a sermon not too long ago, do NOT give your children Internet connected devices this Christmas, or ever...

  • No one under 18 should be allowed access to a smartphone.

Someone younger could have a flip phone to let parents know where they are, but that's it.
Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary...

  • This is one major reason, among many, that the world is beyond the point of no return. The world must be chastised by Heaven to purge the systemic, ubiquitous evil from it. Most elements of the modern world, and a majority of people who inhabit it, must be wiped out. There must be reset of the human, social, technological, civil and global order which, actually, would be an act of mercy by God. A chastisement would be an act of Divine mercy. A deeper punishment for our sins and lukewarmness is to allow this wickedness to continue unabated and in a metastasis leading up to Antichrist's public emergence.
From the woman came the beginning of sin, and by her we all die. ~ Ecclesiasticus 25:33

International Women's Day is a day we all celebrate Eve's rebellion at the Tree and our plummet into sin.

  • In this world it’s not hard to monitor kids activity on the internet. They even make kid specific tablets, and phones. Apple make theirs even easier on iPads. Amazon has kids fire pads. They can’t access absolutely anything without your passcode. Why these parents can’t do such a simple thing is beyond me.....

It's also important to limit their time online as much as possible. Even the sickest of modernists will still respect someone who spends their leisure time playing sports or reading a book over vegetating in front of inane nonsense on their tablet or TV.

You definitely can monitor YOUR child's access and on line activities.  The problem is that you cannot monitor OTHERS  children's access and exposure.  The majority of children first see porn on someone else's device.  When young, you have more control over who your children come in contact with.  The older they get, the less you're able to do so, unless you accompany them everywhere at all times, live self-sufficiently off-grid and have no contact with other humans, or you chain them to their beds and keep them locked up like the Turpins.  Parents have a much harder job than in former times; transmitting and forming the child's conscience so that he will reject pornography when he sees it.

True. You can keep your child protected from that nonsense, but unless you manage to find a neighbourhood that's solely TradCatholics(all I can say is good luck with that), your kids will still come in to contact and make friends with other kids who haven't been. And as they get into their teens they'll definitely be meeting plenty of people raised, well... differently.

  • I’ve noticed that some parents don’t get to know their kid’s friend’ parents. How are you gonna know who they are hanging out with when you don’t know who raised them?

  • Unfortunately, computers are required for school (even our Traditional Catholic one).  But we have all the devices routed through its own WiFi router.  This is actually a great product:  http://koalasafe.com/

I ban everything except for things on a whitelist that I explicitly allow as needed.  This thing filters a lot of stuff, including things like the "Victoria's Secret" website.

As for phones, when needed by the kids, expecially the older ones, although it's nearly impossible these days to find non-smart (aka dumb) phones, there are some pay-as-you-go wireless providers that allow you to buy ala-carte and simply NOT buy "data".

Yep.  Even if you lock down your own devices, their friends have devices that they can show them things on.  I recall that, as a child, I ran into a large stack of Playboy magazines at the house of a neighbor for whom I was babysitting.  [This guy was married, and since he had them out in the open, I'm guessing that his wife didn't object too much.  He told her he was reading it for the articles, I imagine.]

  • We have the parental settings on all the internet devices in our home set to the strictest level as we see no reason why immoral material is necessary for anyone adults or children.

But there is a general acceptance of sinful behaviour, nakedness, self abuse, etc which society now seems to expect parents to allow rather than seek to prevent or at least restrict as we should.

Even if you homeschool your kids, when they join the local soccer team or whatever, what're you gonna do? Get to know all their parents and then pull your kid from the team if you find out even one doesn't strictly monitor their kids' browsing? All you can do is raise your kids well that by the time they encounter that stuff they won't be affected by it.
