  • When we do charity we should do it in silence and humility.   We do charity with prayer to God.
Most people doing ice bucket are just doing it because it is  a fad.   Everytime, ice water is wasted pray for the many people who don't access to clean fresh water.
May God bless you and keep you

  • I can't exactly put my finger on it, but for some reason the ice bucket thing seems to lack Catholic dignity and seems very worldly/hedonistic/paganistic.  I'm glad to see somebody else kind of on the same page with me.

There are different styles for everyone. It is not that the challange is too worldly or "hedonistic" it is that the money goes to a charity which makes use of it in a way that is contrary to Catholic morality.
