  • Hi everyone!  Shall we go to battle in a more visible way? Our wonderful priests  have given EVERYTHING for us.  And Bishop Williamson and the good priests were  thrown out with little visible protest.  We owe them all we have .  Who's up for gathering with signs and picketing and large visible protests at our largest churches.... To show out support for Bishop Williamson and all of the good priests who have given their lives for us pitiful little sheep?!?

  • First post.
You may be a devout Catholic and, if so, please forgive my suspicion.  Your out of the gate proposal has an agent provocateur feel.

  • I see zeal. If you wish to do the most good for the Church, take up your arms and pray devoutly. By this I mean take hold of your holy Rosary and persevere in it, as taught by St. Louis de Montfort, and Our Lady's command in every apparition of Our Lady of Fatima. By this means you will do much good.

  • More good will be achieved by keeping yourself in the state of grace and praying the Rosary devoutly, especially for the intention of the Collegial Consecration of Russia to the IHM.

  • Just what would your plan achieve, MFletschinger?
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • As others have stated, prayer will accomplish infinitely more than picketing.

  • Hi MFletschinger, I like your passion in wanting to do something for the Faith.  There are those who say "just pray", however, I disagree.  Assuming one has the time (obviously, if you don't, then prayer is your only option), one ought to do as the Benedictines:  "Ora et Labora" = "Pray and WORK".  Let's all not forget the WORK part.

The problem, and why most people say "just pray", is that it's hard to know what's worth one's time.  Picketing, etc, accomplishes seemingly nothing, however, it can be worthwhile in the proper instances (i.e. protesting a blasphemous play, movie, or art exhibit).

God bless ya in your activities.  If you're doing something any of us can participate in, keep us informed.

  • Yea, what are we thinking, "just pray"?  Every Catholic knows that the most powerful means to change isn't enough.  Well, every modernist Catholic perhaps.

Just fyi, prayer IS Catholic action.  Our Holy Mother tells us over and over and over to pray.
    And the Angel of Fatima:
    Quote
What are you doing? Pray! Pray very much! … Offer prayers and sacrifices constantly to the most High…. Make everything you do a sacrifice, and offer it to God as an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended, and in supplication for the conversion of sinners. You will thus draw down peace upon your country…. Above all accept and bear with submission the suffering which the Lord will send you.”

As an aside, the OP appears to fit the 'hit and run' troll definition.

  • Come on now, God gave us a body, mind and will to use.  We have muscles for doing work, a mind to solve problems, a will do use them properly.  If prayer is all that's required of Catholics, then why did the Church send missionary priests, ala Fr DeSmet, to convert the natives?  He could've just stayed at home and prayed.  Do you just pray for your children, or do you also work to discipline and teach them too?  What about Constantine's fight against the pagan forces in the 3rd century?  He prayed AND fought.  And God gave the victory.

If you're raising a family, fine.  That's your work.  But for others, there's work to be done and you pray as you're working.  You can't "just pray".

We cannot know that for sure.

Anyway Catholic action requires much MORE than just prayer. I am reminded in the days of the Legion of Decency Catholics would picket theatres to withdraw a bad film and back in the day Catholic newspaper boys would dump Playboys into the sewer. One can also consider the economic boycott to effect a business to comport to the will of the party of greivance.

We should not become a part of this pacifist nonsense, as Christians backing down is one reason the Left has the victories it has won so far. Let us remind ourselves that Crusaders fought against Muslim Turks during the Crusades and Franco and the Nationalists used force and violence against the Communist Republicans.

  • Far too many Catholics hide behind prayer to avoid active fight for our Faith.
It is not popular to say this but its true.  We must always put up a public resistance to all evil.  Prayer is our most powerful weapon and the only power we truly have but to sit at home praying and avoiding the frontlines is just too easy.

Yes with family commitments it is hard but those who are confined to the home should be involved in some way , if its only emails and letters etc.

How do you teach your children to be Soldiers of Christ if your not one yourself.

Should we picket the Cathedrals for the trash the bishops allow in religious education and Catholic schools?

  • Go to  www.JoyfulCatholic.com and look for the book, "All For Jesus". written in 1854 by Father William Faber who also wrote, "The Precious Blood".  I just started reading this book and can't put it down.  He says that Jesus has interests and Fr. Faber spells out the mission to please Jesus.  Very Good!
