I had a former boss who was a nothing, just an easily replaceable cog in the corporation, who used to strut around with a piece of dowel and smack his hand and objects with it whenever he was around we puny clerks in his charge. His nickname was “der Fuhrer,”:and we used to give him the nαzι salute behind his back. Hate crime? Well, yes, he was pretty much hated, not in the criminal sense, just that he acted like a jerk.
Was putting the picture on Facebook imprudent? Yes, because you KNOW someone will flip out over it. Should people use their brains before posting to social media? Yes. Do they? Rarely! That’s the kind of “in” joke that would formerly be kept “in house.” I don’t think there was a group picture of the sales clerks nαzι saluting Mr. S., but if there were, it’d not be posted on the break room bulletin board, much less the public notice board, or published in the W....n Daily Register! Of course anyone who did that would have gotten the ax!
