  • Gibson’s Bad Choice

    TIA,

Director Mel Gibson’s choice of a radical pro-abortion extremist to play the role of the Blessed Virgin Mary in The Resurrection of the Christ has ignited a firestorm of protests in the actress’s native Poland, perhaps the most pro-life nation on Earth. Read more here

Certainly not a good idea to have this revolted anti-Catholic woman representing the Virgin Mary!

There are petitions in Poland against this made by concerned Catholics.

What is worse, Smutniak   a picture of herself on Instagram with disturbing profanities and pro-abortion messages written across her face insulting those who oppose abortion.

I’m not sure about this film. What is Gibson telling us? That he is part of the Hollywood cabal? This insult to the Mother of God is enough for me to not see the film. Hope many Catholics feel this way.

         E.M.

  • Maybe she’ll get so into her character she’ll convert?

Let’s pray this is a grace for her, that she will have a road to Damascus conversion.

As our enemies surround us and mock our Faith let's pray the God brings them some justice too.

  • I didn't find out until recently, but in the original Passion movie, Mary Magdalene was played by Monica Bellucci, who has publicly supported abortion "rights" for decades.

I think involving non Catholic actors in a Catholic production like The Passion is an opportunity to evangelise and also as they’re ACTORS it only matters how they portray the character, not who they are in themselves.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you would not have a problem with a non-Catholic blatant atheist, blatant ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ, blatant pro-abortionist to play the role of Jesus Christ or likewise to a blatant non-Catholic lesbian, atheist, pro-abort to play the Blessed Virgin Mary because after all in your words "it is an opportunity to evangelise and also as they’re ACTORS it only matters how they portray the character, not who they are in themselves"?

  • Gibson fits Albert Pike's definition of the
"Supplied hero" found in his "Morals & Dogma".   Catholics, suffering from their hijacked Church and imposter leaders seek heros.  This is Gibson's role... the fake trad Catholic, who display moments of theatrical piety while mocking Catholicism at every opportunity.

Non-Catholic actors are not the issue. It's using an actress who openly and actively promotes the murder of children. Would our Lord be happy with such a woman representing His beloved mother? I'm of the mind that He would not be. In the passion, Maia Morgenstern was a Jєωιѕн actress who played Our Lady. However, she was also a mother who was expecting a baby during production. That motherly love shone through her performance. Jim Cavizel's love for Jesus shone through his performance. I do not see how Gibson will be able to emulate such love through the two new actors who are hardened liberals. I also do not believe such a woman deserves to play the greatest and most holy woman who ever lived.

Our Lord would be happy if as a result of playing the role of His mother, this woman repented and changed her position on abortion. I do see your point of view though. I guess she doesn’t deserve to play the role. I’m wondering what Gibson would say if he was asked the question? I’d like to know. He needs many prayers himself, I am not sure if he is still in a relationship with the woman who is not his wife. I know another lady had his baby following his split with his wife. All so sad.
