Title: Buying a Home - CMRI Communities for a Growing Family
Post by: Crayolcold on November 09, 2025, 06:42:00 PM
Hello all,

I am currently looking to purchase a home for my growing family, but I am struggling to find areas where:

1) House prices are on the more affordable end ($300k - $450k)
2) The lot is at least 1 acre
3) There is a CMRI parish within ~30 min
4) There is a bigger city within 45min or closer for quality of life
* I work remotely so job availability is not a particular concern

I know that there are many in this forum who themselves, or whose friends and family, have homes near CMRI parishes. I am looking for suggestions on where I should look! Right now, my eyes are set on Ohio, since there are four chapels there, and homes come with lots of land at a good price. That being said, Ohio seems like the easy choice, and I do not want to overlook any burgeoning -- though, perhaps, not as well known -- communities which seem to have a great future with lots of young families.

Thank you!

Ohio may be a good choice. I attend the Sacred Heart Chapel in Mountain View, Ar. We have families that have moved here from all over the Country.

It is rural though. Little Rock is 2 hours away. We drive 1.5 hrs to get to Mass. We have a really good Priest and a growing community and we will move closer to Mass if we can work it out and if its God's will.

Spokane, Washington or Cour d'Alene, Idaho may worth looking at, with Mount St. Michaels in Spokane and a chapel in Rathdrum, Idaho.
