  • I was in a Target store this past week and happened to see a product in their halloween section which is offensive and blasphemous to me as  a Catholic. The product is an item called a "creepy cross" made for Target exclusively which in place of the Corpus found on a Crucifix has a hideous looking owl/bat looking figure.

I brought it to the attention of the store manager and I asked Target to remove this item which is offensive to me, but more importantly is an offense to Our Lord Jesus Christ who died on that very image that Target has chosen to desecrate for it's own financial gain.

I  told them will be posting a picture of the "creepy cross" on multiple prominent message forums on the internet to bring awareness to this offense and urging others to contact call them as I did to pull this item from their shelves.

  • John Steven,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for the link to send a protest.  I just sent mine.   It took me less than a minute!

  • That is not just a creepy cross, it's a satanic cross. There's an event where satan worshippers pay homage to this giant owl. So the owl is another official animal used to worship Lucifer. Shame on Target for selling this junk.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • Oh my gosh!   There is so much creep out there these days, that people just go and accept it without even thinking.

The sad part is when you call their attention to it,, you are the wierdo.  Disgusting!

We live in times when black is now white, and white is black.
    Please pray for my soul.

  • I've sent them an email too.. this is disgusting. Target, the Obama-worship capital of ultra mom-and-pop-shop destroyers, is just showing their colors more and more, now desecrating Our Lord and His Holy Cross.

  • E-mails will only do so much.  Hit them where it hurts the most - in the pocketbook.  Don't go there anymore.

That's who/what immediately came to mind when I saw the photo.

What I find blasphemous is the position and form of the owl. Usually you see the Holy Ghost's symbol of the dove with wings outstretched and rays of light shining forth.... here you find an owl (pagan owl) with wings AND talons outstretched (as if to kill an animal) with the nimbus and rays on the cross that suggest divinity.

  • This topic with your picture is being discussed over at CAF, just thought you'd like to know.  I find it interesting that most people over there don't find much offensive about this.  It's a sign to me that most modern American Catholics are completely ignorant regarding Halloween.  I was one of those people, too, until I started doing my own research about it.  Last year, we decided to pull away from "celebrating" Halloween as traditional Americans.  We have intentionally been trying to wean our children from all the garbage we have allowed into their lives.

Last year, we had a family party where we bobbed for apple and played musical chairs.  We made an "ancestor" cake--where we picked the favorite cake of one of our deceased parents or grandparents--and later we said a Rosary for all the souls in purgatory.  This year I'm thinking about making soul-cakes.

I want to focus more on the souls in purgatory this year.  We began homeschool and our 4th grader has really developed a interest in purgatory.

Since this is our first year attending SSPX, I wasn't aware that our chapel has an annual All Souls/Saints Day Celebration.  We are planning to attend that as well, but our baby is due around that time.

Secretly, I'm praying for her to be born on Oct 31/Nov 1.

What we have always done for Halloween is dress up as a saint or Catholic hero and still go trick-or-treating (a custom of Irish Catholic origin). We try and go to the All Saints Day celebrations when we can.

This year Im hoping to celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Mexican All Souls Day) in a traditional manner as opposed to the modern celebration.

  • I just despise Halloween, am disgusted by the ugly trash people buy for their houses; it gets worse every year.

Target should be boycotted for a number of reasons, but this is really nasty!

  • Mount St. Michaels also has a Souls, Saints Day Celebration and instead of a haunted house they have a Purgatory house which is the highlight of the Celebration, I have never been through it myself but heard it is very scary.
    Please pray for my soul.
