I had a look at the roster of clerical sex offenders.  I did so having read of the courageous Steven Brady's recent admission that he can no longer continue with his work against clerical abuse.

I was staggered to see several familiar faces.

Two of them I swear I would have never guessed in a million years.  This shows how charming psychopaths can be, how powerful is the image of the priestly habit.  This may explain why they seem to have loyal followers who defend them tooth and nail and forgive their "little slips" and don't object when they are allowed access to young people.
