  •  Many years ago a friend informed me of just how wicked the lyrics of Billy Joel songs really are. I have kept that in mind for many years but never really looked into it for myself. Just beginning to peer into it one sees a lost and disturbed soul very possibly possesed. Yes, his songs have very catchy tunes. So catchy that when I was a boy I used to dance around my room when certain ones of his songs would come on the radio. And they were so filthy antiCatholic!

We decided to make a post about this because we are sure there are both souls who have never heard of this and souls who know far more than ourselves and may enlighten us on some aspects such as the meaning of the nonsense song "Piano man" by (of course) Billy Joel.

As with so much of modern music the lyrics are totally ignored and with this guy it is cleverly designed as his tune captures you before you can THINK about what he is saying.

I turn our business radio off every time "only the good die youg" comes on. I showed a co worker the lyrics today and she was appalled although she isn't Catholic.

If the Catholic Church wasn't in such a crisis this man would probably bemaking an honest living somewhere.

Here are the words of his song "Only the good die young" .... brace yourself if you never read these lyrics before...

"Come out, Virginia- Don't let me wait. You Catholic girls start much too late. Ah! But sooner or later it comes down to fate. I might as well will be the one.

Well they showed you a statue-Told you to pray. They built you a temple and locked you away.Ah! But they never told you the price it would pay.The things that you might have done...

Only the good die young. That's what I said!Only the good die young.Only the good die young...

You mighta heard I run with a dangerous crowd. We ain't too pretty, we ain't too proud. We might be laughin' a bit too loud.Ah! But that never hurt no one...

So come on Virginia!Show me a sign-Send up a signal; I'll throw you a line. The stained glass curtain you're hidin' behind-Never lets in the sun...

Darlin' only the good die young!Oh woe woe woe woe!I tell ya only the good die young.Only the good die young...

You got a nice white dress and a party on your confirmation! You've got a brand new soul.Mmm, and a cross of gold. But Virginia they didn't give you quite enough information!

You didn't count on me-When you were counting on your rosary. Oh woe woe!

And they say there's a Heaven,[ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/only-the-good-die-young-lyrics-billy-joel.html ]And those who will wait. And some say it's better, But I say it ain't!I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.
The sinners are much more fun...You know that only the good die young!Oh woe woe baby bay!I tell ya only the good die young!Only the good die young...

Said your mother told you all that I could give you was a reputation!Ah! She never cared for me.But did she ever say a prayer for me?Oh woe woe!

Come out, come out, come out!Virginia don't let me wait! You Catholic girls start much too late!Sooner or later it comes down to fate.I might as well will be the one...You know that only the good die young!

Tell ya baby! You know that only the good die young!Only the good die young.Only the gooood!Only the good die young.

Oo oo oooo Oo!Oo oo oo oo Oooo oo!Oo oo oo Oo!Oo oo oo oo Oooo oo!Oo oo oooo Oo!Oo oo oo oo Oooo oo!

Only the good die young!Only the good die young..."

Sorry about the rotten copy. Let's pray for Billy Joel.

  • As was mentioned on "Jєωιѕн Faces" thread it is yet another vile song about raw lust and is anti-Catholic.

  • I use to like the song but 86'd it because of the lyrics. The same with Drive My Car

Almost everything I like has lyrics that are incidental in that they have little effect on  music itself as art.

There Is No Such Thing As 'Sede Vacantism'...
nor is there such thing as a 'Feeneyite' or 'Feeneyism'

Friends, I am not trying to sound condescending, but what kind of spiritual fruit would you expect from people who are not, would not be and do not pretend to care about being faithful to Our Lord and His holy Church?

Don't even bother hunting through the trash of popular culture for your 'entertainment'. I am a musician myself, and, believe me, there is GREAT joy in singing and listening to music that is intentionally offered to our God and in honor of Our Lady and the saints. You don't need to risk getting hypnotized by Satan through the filthy music (so-called) of those who refuse the grace of God in Our Lord Jesus Christ.

I will pray daily for all here. May we all find every satisfaction in pursuing sanctity and refusing the siren's song of the enemy and his children.

St. Cecilia, lover of music and of Our Lord, pray that we would 'make melody in our hearts' unto the Holy Trinity.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, triumph soon!

Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
This evil of heresy spreads itself. The doctrines of godliness are overturned; the rules of the Church are in confusion; the ambition of the unprincipled seizes upon places of authority; and the chief seat [the Papacy] is now openly proposed as a rewar

The problem is it is outrageous sacriligious "music" that offends God. This should matter to everybody.

  • Ah, it is a lot more than "Only the Good Die Young"

Consider his biggest album "The Stranger" (where the aforemention "Only  the Good Die Young" is found.

Note that it's his "greatest" and biggest selling album, then consider the title track, "The Stranger" itself.

At first verse or two it sounds as if "The Stranger" is the concept that we all "put on a face" and hide our darker natures (a mere observation of the human condition),  then "the stranger" is the "other man", his lover's paramour, but then  the song finally reveals its true colors in the last verse, abrubtly, the  song morphs into who "The Stranger" really is, almost non-seqitur, this makes the entire song about  hidden dark natures and evil deeds 'make sense'. Who is Billy Joel's "Stranger" you ask? See for yourself in the  final  verse:

    Quote
You may never understand How the stranger is inspired But he isn't always evil And he is not always wrong Though you drown in good intentions You will never quench the fire You'll give in to your desire When the stranger comes along.

I think this "stranger" is no stranger to Billy  Joel.
