Think not only of the things you did wrong, but also those good things you did with not the best intentions. Also situations where you did a good, but there was an even greater good you failed to do. Think of who they be you need to cut off from your life for the betterment of your soul, even if they be traditional Catholics. Think of who you need to show more mercy and charity, even if they be the scuм of the earth.

If you are not doing an examination of conscious before confession, and are doing more to gain more contrition, I would recommend you do it in a children’s cemetery if you can. Think of what they would do if they had the time you did. I assure you, you will feel an immense sense of guilt.

Is this for a daily one or for a general confession?
