  • I'd like to read the Epistles, but I find them daunting. What are your suggestions for a good commentary on them, specifically? I have the Haydock and the Catena Aurea. Are there others?

Check out Jesuit priest Cornelius a Lapide's commentaries on Scripture. Many Catholics say it's the best ever.

    Which epistles, specifically?
Allo, O.P.'s or Cdl. MacRory's on Corinthians are the best.
    Vosté, O.P. on Ephesians.
MacEvilly's on St. Paul and Catholic Epistles.

The Catena Aurea deals primarily with the Gospels.

  • IMG_6713.HEIC  We also have St. Thomas' Commentary on the Epistles by the Aquinas Institute, Green Bay, WI.  They give the Latin/English side-by-side which is nice so I can check the Latin. It is a multi-volume set, but they are nice hardbound, blue volumes.
