Title: Best commentary on the epistles?
Post by: Birdie on July 05, 2025, 08:35:23 AM: I'd like to read the Epistles, but I find them daunting. What are your suggestions for a good commentary on them, specifically? I have the Haydock and the Catena Aurea. Are there others?

Check out Jesuit priest Cornelius a Lapide's commentaries on Scripture. Many Catholics say it's the best ever.

Which epistles, specifically?

The Catena Aurea deals primarily with the Gospels.

They give the Latin/English side-by-side which is nice so I can check the Latin. It is a multi-volume set, but they are nice hardbound, blue volumes.
