  • I recall at the time of some heavy snow or nice, I put a slight bit of force on the brakes, car spun. I suppose a person needs to cut down all unnecessary journeys, but there are always necessary journeys. Maybe put a St Christopher on the dash like I did. Keep safe and prayers.

  • 4 college freshmen were killed in an accident when they went 80 mph on icy roads. This was a big story here in Minnesota.
Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary...

The street is sloping downhill, which makes it extra hazardous.
Even when braking, with snow tires, over ice you don't get much traction.
Chains are better, or else spiked tires help to grip the ice.

(Example of specialty racing spiked tires, not for everyday use!)

  • The video I embedded in the previous post appears to be from Russia.

And I thought L.A. drivers were bad. Russians drivers must be drunk.

They need MADRD ~ Mothers Against Drunk Russian Drivers.

  • Sure wish I had a dash cam from my days when I used to travel daily over the Great Divide through Eisenhower Tunnel back in the 90's. These sort of things one would witness, almost daily, for a few months of the year. Don't know how I survived! Did have a St Christopher medal, maybe that's how...

Here's a short video going through Eisenhower tunnel. I recommend anyone who is not familiar with the beautiful Rocky Mountains, watch this!

The video was not filmed in the winter, so use your imagination that there's several feet of snow and no visibility... it's real fun!
