The holy Apostle St. Paul instructed Timothy to drink wine for the sake of his stomach ailments.
The same Sacred Scriptures also command us not to become drunken.
Excess is the sin, drunkenness is the sin, immorality is the sin, the existence of the tavern is not.
The problem is that, like the NO organization, where bad theology and indifferent, lax spirituality go hand in hand, so, too, does the tavern usually combine alcohol with spiritually deadly environment, music, associations and habits.
Better to stay away if at all possible.
A restaurant that serves alcohol is NOT the same as a BAR that serves food, which is often sub-standard and only there to keep the drinkers from going elsewhere to eat.
Besides, if one does not drink (or drink to excess), one does not need to frequent places where people are assumed to do just that.
Jesus, purest, sinless Lamb of God, have mercy on us.
