  • The kids' names were the first warning sign.

OK, pro-natalism. But from a traditional Catholic perspective, just about everything that could be wrong with this couple is wrong. Still, we can hope that the children, as they grow into their own capacity for reason, eventually realize the Truth and fully convert.
Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you, all things pass away: God never changes. Patience obtains all things. He who has God finds he lacks nothing; God alone suffices. - St. Teresa of Jesus

  • Interesting article. I guess it just shows you that the errors of the modern world are becoming so contrary to nature that even pagans like this are starting to reject them.

Then again, the normie who wrote the article is a lot crazier, by objective criteria, than this family.

This family is absolutely right about population collapse, too. You notice the liberal who wrote the article didn't even attempt to dispute that.I wonder if this trend will be reversed before civilization collapses. I kind of doubt it. It doesn't show any signs of reversing -- on the contrary, if anything it keeps getting worse. Eventually there will not be enough people to sustain the complex, technological world that we live in, and the result will be mass starvation. Another problem is that the civilized people who are intelligent enough to keep civilization going are actually the people having the smallest number of children, and people who are prone to idleness and even criminality are having the most.

The future of the world is pretty grim.

  • I remember, many years ago, a sermon from an old SSPX priest where he said that the reason we need to have large families is to repopulate heaven to replace the multitude of angels who fell.

I’m not sure I’ve heard this anywhere else ever since, where the priest got this from or whether he was even correct but I think there is a certain truth in what he said: as Catholics we don’t just have as many children as we can for temporal or worldly reasons, to appear pious, etc. everything we do has to be supernaturally motivated, what is the point of having all these children if we aren’t doing everything we can to usher them to Heaven?
God cannot leave a soul to swim
That has not first abandoned Him.

That's the great paradox of the world --- the people who should be having the most children are having the fewest, and the people who should be having fewer children (or staying single and having none at all) are having the most.

Please mark my words and note that I am not advocating illicit forms of birth control.  Much of the unchecked breeding comes from sex outside of marriage, where chastity and perfect continence should be the norm.

Yes, i've heard this many times.  Not sure if it comes from the Church Fathers/St Augustine or St Thomas or whomever, but it's one reason why the devils hate humanity...because the devils regret their rejection of God and envy us for being able to replace them.
