Anyone living in South West Engalnd?

  • Good evening to everyone,

We are looking for catholic families living in the South West of England, between Newbury, Basingstoke and Andover.

I am moving my family to Burghclere to allow my 6 y.o. to attend school at St Michael (SSPX) as there aren't any catholic schools in my home city (Naples), our home schooling project failed and - if I have to leave my city - then I might as well leave also my country (Italy has become undesirable and unbearable).

We have already enrolled our daughter, but Visa challenges are holding us back (*) a little longer... we hope only a few more weeks, not too long, God pleasing.

Any advice, or help, is welcome, as we are leaving everything behind, and we have nothing set up ahead.

We are planning to stay in a B&B at least for the initial 10 days of government imposed self isolation for the Chinese virus, then we will look to rent and, eventually, to buy a home near Burghclere. Our furniture movers are ready to pack, as soon as our Visa will be granted.

I might also be looking for employment, as my job is London based, but home discharged, and only takes up half of my day (I am not sure if forum policies allow this information to be shared, if not, apologies).

You can post replies and contacts in private.

We would really appreciate a prayer, as we are taking a huge leap of Faith into the unknown.

The only - partly - known entity is the school itself that I visited, two consecutive days, last year. Also the school Headmaster and the primary classes principal (brother and sister) are known, as they are siblings to a chap with whom I went to school. During my visit I met him, his brother and sister (Headmaster and principal), the priests and a few teachers. All the rest is unknown and will be God's gift!

  • Hiya I'm based in South West London ( we border Surrey) we are a family with a child ( in our 30s).

My parents live in Bristol and attend sspx there and sometimes visit St Michael's for events.

What church are you looking to attend ?

  • You will most certainly be in our prayers, Tommaso.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • Apologies for the very late reply but, for some reason, I am not being notified of replies, even if the notification box in my settings is correctly ticked.

Unfortunately our visa is lingering. The Home Office confirmed "reception" of my daughter's visa but not my wife's! And no determination, yet.

    Thank you.

We are still being held up but we will certainly contact you, as soon as our move begins. It will be nice to know someone before moving.

We plan to lease a home within 10 minutes drive from the School so we will attend St Michael's but, since my wife loves to tour by car on weekends, we will very likely attend other Churches. Preferably SSPX, but we also attend ICKSP, SSP and diocesan celebrations (unless patently espousing V2 theology - a priest's private faith is between him and God, only).

    Where do you attend?
