Man, you guys really seem to look for every fault possible in Gibson's Passion.
A little piece of wisdom from the Philokalia:
"To brood on evil makes the heart brazen; but to destroy evil through self-restraint and hope breaks the heart." - Mark the Ascetic
This is really getting completely out of control. Whether it's Mel Gibson (who's failings are well known), Caviezel, or LaBeouf ... nobody gets a break from Pharisaical judgmentalism, tongue-wagging, and gossip.
Whatever Caviezel has or hasn't done, we're not his judge and, unless there's some compelling benefit to the faithful in deriding them, some of the posters here just need to shut up. If Caviezel is or is not a Mason has nothig to do with me or anyone else here, and to insinuate that he is without any evidence other than a photo without context is slanderous.
It's disturbing that the absurd and slanderous OP got two thumbs up.
Calling him a fake Catholic because he's confused or in error on some things (without proof that he's pertinacious about his error rather than just confused and in material error) is calumny, and those continue to engage in these slander campaigns are in fact the "fake Catholics".
Our Lord taught us to judge not, lest we be judged, to take the beams out of our own eyes, and on and on. God will forgive only those who forgive others. Our Lord warned that we will be judged with the same measure with which we judge others. So if we give others the benefit of the doubt, God will also be lenient with us. But if we castigate and excoriate our neighbor for every perceived fault, God will be just as ruthless with us. Our Lord showed great Mercy and compassion to the adultress and to tax collectors (thieves), but reserved His hash words for the Pharisees.
