  • I do not trust any stories of exorcisms since the 1960's and the Vatican II religion. I advise others to only study the subject from older exorcism accounts, when exorcists were for sure validly ordained. In the Novus Ordo religion, priests are no longer ordained to the order of Exorcist.
In this case the priest was ordained in or before 1960 was ordained according to the pre-vatican II rite by a bishop who was consecrated according to the pre-vatican II rite.

  • The Vatican is launching a new international exorcism training course in response to rising demand for priests skilled in getting rid of demonic possessions.
A week-long course on exorcism is set to be held in April at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, a Catholic educational institute in the capital of Italy.
The focus of the course is “to offer a rich reflection and articulation on a topic that is sometimes unspoken and controversial,” Italian priest and exorcist Benigno Palilla told Vatican Radio.

  • "We touch on the most burning issues: from the sects linked to Satanism to the [telling] their story of liberation [from] their possession,” he added.
The course was set up amid the increasing popularity of tarot cards readers and fortune tellers that opened “the door to the devil and to possession,” Palilla said, according to the Newsweek magazine.
He noted that the demand for exorcism services tripled in the last few years, to 500,000 alleged cases in Italy, although most cases of alleged demonic possession were prompted by psychological and spiritual issues.

  • Yes, and conversely, it's (pride) the sin that God hates the most.  God sometimes allows people to fall into all manner of more degrading sins (impurity in particular) because pride is so much worse, and being humiliated like that can help uproot pride over time.
I don't know, brah... I would think that insulting the Blessed Mother of God is a sin that He hates the most. Also, it would seem the sins that cry to Heaven for vengeance - fαɢɢօtry, murder, defrauding workers a just wage, & oppression of poor - are hated by God the most, too.

Indeed, pride is the root of all sin, and it's the first sin committed by Lucifer which led to his eternal damnation as Satan; and it's the sin that led Adam & Eve to fall.
Blessed be the Lord my God, who teacheth my hands to fight, and my fingers to war. ~ Psalms 143:1 (Douay-Rheims)

Actually Pope Francis would dispute that.

He's had months in which to do so, so your speculation is naïve. These are typical progressivist tactics, someone else says it and the pope says nothing against it. We've been seeing it for60 years now, since John XXIII.

  • In France, the demand for exorcists has also soared, but the services were outsourced to “independent operators,” who conduct the exorcism, as the Catholic Church neglected for years the training of priests in the practice despite strong public demand, The Economist reported.
There are roughly 100 exorcists in France, yet most remain inactive.
Palilla warned about using untrained priest for getting rid of demons. “A self-taught exorcist certainly meets errors," he said. "I will say more: it would also take a period of apprenticeship, as happens for many professionals."
In 2014, the Vatican officially recognized exorcism as a practice under canon law.

A darling of liberal Catholics and an advocate of inclusion and forgiveness, Pope Francis is hardly known for fire and brimstone.
Yet, in his words and deeds, the new pope is locked in an epic battle with the oldest enemy of God and creation:
    The Devil.
After his little more than a year atop the Throne of St. Peter, Francis’s teachings on Satan are already regarded as the most old school of any pope since at least Paul VI, whose papacy in the 1960s and 1970s fully embraced the notion of hellish forces plotting to deliver mankind unto damnation.
Largely under the radar, theologians and Vatican insiders say, Francis has not only dwelled far more on Satan in sermons and speeches than his recent predecessors have, but also sought to rekindle the Devil’s image as a supernatural entity with the forces of evil at his beck and call.

  • Exorcists have the special task of driving out demons when somebody is believed to be “possessed” by an evil spirit — and such incidents are reportedly rising in some parts of the world.
The Vatican “is hosting a weeklong training” next month in Rome “to better prepare” priests “for ministry” as exorcists, according to an article in the religious press that explains possessions are rising in Italy and some priests don’t know what to do.

  • Another recent news article says “demonic activity has risen exponentially” in Ireland, and a priest there has “called on church leaders to appoint a team of exorcists to cope with what he sees as a rising tide of evil in the country.”
The 1973 horror film “The Exorcist” brought wide recognition to the job.
The Archdiocese of Chicago still has a priest serving as an exorcist.
An archdiocesan spokeswoman would not provide numbers of reported possessions but said Chicago’s exorcist “does not plan on attending the event in Rome.”

  • Priests have been carrying out exorcisms over the phone as demand continues to rise, a Cardinal has said.
Speaking at the Vatican’s annual exorcist training conference in Rome, Cardinal Ernest Simoni said priests are delivering prayers of liberation, part of the exorcism ritual, remotely.

  • “There are priests who carry out exorcisms on their mobile phones. That’s possible thanks to Jesus,” he said.
However, some warned that the practice was not wise, as people who are possessed often writhe around violently and have to be restrained during exorcisms.

  • Professor Giuseppe Ferrari said: “Priests pray with people on the phone to calm them down, but if you are not there you cannot control the physical aspects. Some exorcists say it is effective. Whether it is orthodox or correct, I couldn’t say.”
Around 250 priests from 50 countries are attending this year’s conference at the Regina Apostolorum university as prelates from around the world report an increase in demand for exorcisms.

  • The course started in 2004, and since then the number of priests attending each year has more than doubled.
Earlier this year, Irish priest Fr Pat Collins said calls were rising “exponentially” and added that he was “baffled” Church leaders were not doing more.
