Is an exorcist afraid? What is the devil's favorite sin? These and other questions were tackled in an interview with the Dominican priest, Father Juan José Gallego, an exorcist from the Archdiocese of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain.
Almost a decade after Fr. Gallego was appointed as exorcist, he was interviewed by the Spanish daily El Mundo. The priest said that in his experience, pride is the sin the devil likes the most.
“Have you ever been afraid?” the interviewer asked.
“In the beginning I had a lot of fear,” Fr. Gallego replied. “All I had to do was look over my shoulder and I saw demons… the other day I was doing an exorcism, ‘I command you! I order you!’…and the Evil One, with a loud voice fires back at me: ‘Galleeeego, you’re over-doooing it.’ That shook me.”
Nevertheless, he knows that the devil is not more powerful than God. The exorcist recalled that “when they appointed me, a relative told me, ‘Whoa, Juan José, I’m really afraid, because in the movie ‘The Exorcist,’ one person died and the other threw himself through a window. I said to her ‘Don’t forget that the devil is (just a) creature of God.’”
When people are possessed, he added, “they lose consciousness, they speak strange languages, they have inordinate strength, they feel really bad, you see very well-mannered people vomiting and blaspheming.”
“There was a boy whom the demon would set his shirt on fire at night and things like that. He told me what the demons were proposing him to do: If you make a pact with us, you’ll never have to go through any more of what you’re going through now.”
Father Gallego also warned that “New Age” practices like reiki and some yoga can be points of entry for the demons. He also said that addictions are “a type of possession.”
“When people are going through a crisis they suffer more. They can feel hopeless. People feel like they’ve got the devil inside,” he said.

I came to realize this:
They are powerful. And they can do anything. Anything we can't imagine (in therm of visual effect and sound, smell, in our head and outside). Name it, but even if we saw everything, he can do more.

It's like humans we thing we are so creative with art: and we get impressed with a painting or something. He can do so much more. That is how he impressed Evan and Adam (not through Art).

For example, where I am from, in the newspaper an exorcist was chased by a car with no driver. Well it remind us a movie, but it was not a movie this time.

One time I meet an exorcist. And he said something about fear: if you fear you will be attacked physically during an exorcist. But the stole (étole in French) is what protected him during an exorcist, when a fireball felt on him once. Since I know why they where them during confession too.

Sacrements are very powerful too, but that is another subject.

Here's one for you -- can you please write the words for the Sign of the Cross in French and explain them, SIgneDeLaCroix? And why did you use an upper case i in Signe? From what I've heard, it seems like "In nom du Pere du Fis du Sans Esprit, ensesuatelle." Am I way off?

A docuмentary on the ministry of Father Gabriele Amorth, popularly known as the “Vatican exorcist,” will be released this spring. The film was directed by William Friedkin, director of the 1973 movie “The Exorcist.”
“The Devil and Father Amorth” will be released April 20, Deadline reports.

The film follows Amorth during the events surrounding the exorcism of an Italian women in 2016.  Amorth died in September 2016 at 91, shortly after filming was completed.
“I had been curious to meet Father Amorth for many years and when he granted permission to meet and film him in Rome last May, it was the opportunity to complete the circle and see how close that film came to reality,” Friedkin told Deadline.
During filming, Friedkin was present at an exorcism, which he said he had not previously seen personally, despite his work on “The Exorcist.”

“In the early 1970s when I directed ‘The Exorcist,’ I had not witnessed an exorcism but I wondered how close I had come to portraying reality,” he said in an interview with Variety.
The docuмentary interviews Amorth about the exorcism of an Italian woman, referred to as “Rosa,” who, Amorth said, struggled with demonic mood swings and convulsions, which were reportedly heightened on Christian holidays like Easter.  It includes a video recording of the event.
Father Amorth was born in Modena in northern Italy on May 1925. Twenty years later, the man joined the Congregation of the Society of St. Paul, and was ordained a priest in 1951.
In 1985, Father Amorth was appointed an exorcist by Cardinal Ugo Poletti, vicar general of the Diocese of Rome. Amorth claimed to have performed thousands of exorcisms. He was the author of “An Exorcist Tells His Story” and “An Exorcist: More Stories.”

Perhaps I am a bit romantic, but somehow I was never comfortable with the notion of a celebrity exorcist; the idea seems to clash with the virtues and dispositions Church writers said were requisite for the exercise of that office.

Bringing in a blasphemous Hollywood producer to let him watch?

At the end of the nineteenth century Italy was going through a difficult period and the Italians migrated to America in search of work and new opportunities. Among many, by the year 1870, the young Miguel Aliano also came to Brazil. His trip was tumultuous: he faced terrible weather, contrary winds, great delay and suffering. Some immigrants became ill and others died – their bodies were thrown into the sea. While the strong waves shook the boat, many feared never to reach the destination.
Remembering the Catholic faith inherited from his mother, Miguel, the young man, asked Saint Michael, the Archangel, the miracle of arriving in Brazil. He promised that, as soon as he was able, he would return to Italy to seek the image of the holy guardian angel and have a chapel erected in his honor.
When you pray, you can do it. Miguel finally arrived in Brazil and, with all the effort of those who come to a new land, he worked, set up his trade and saved savings to keep the promise.
As soon as it was possible, he fulfilled it. In the year 1891, Miguel Aliano and Ana Maria Olga Aliano built a chapel dedicated to São Miguel Arcanjo in the center of São Paulo, at Rua Bráulio Gomes. The boy traveled to Italy and brought from his land, packed and inside a wooden box, that beautiful image of St. Michael the Archangel, all of it also in painted wood.

A parish priest loved by the faithful and hated by the devil
Whoever knows you knows what I’m talking about. Even enemies of the Catholic Church were amazed by the sound of Father Miguel Pedroso’s voice. His calm, his serenity, his strength, his unwavering faith made the demon tremble.
Father Miguel attended to all the people who came to him. He visited the sick, blessed the people and houses of the region, did countless exorcisms …
As he grew older, he was transferred to Cotia, where he contributed to the formation of the famous carmel there. I went to the city of Cotia several times in search of Father Miguel. He still continued to pray mass, to give blessing and to do exorcisms. Lay and religious people continued to come from afar to look for him.
After passing away in old age, the body of the priest Miguel was buried in the city of São Roque. Many people will still pray next to your tomb.

Yes, and conversely, it's the sin that God hates the most.  God sometimes allows people to fall into all manner of more degrading sins (impurity in particular) because pride is so much worse, and being humiliated like that can help uproot pride over time.
