  • The Inquisitors discuss delusions, the two kinds of brain activity we have (Lizard vs Rational) and how to preserve our mind for the Truth. How to be mindful and keep our faculty of Reason in control, instead of our lower passions.

  • Does anyone have issues with the platform, etc.?
Do I need to upload these episodes to Youtube, would that be easier for viewing these, subscribing, where you habitually visit for podcasts, etc.?
Does anyone want/need MP3 versions of this podcast? I could do that pretty easily -- I just haven't received much feedback thus far.

  • Hi, Matthew, the one piece of feedback I've seen right here is some people feel they're just too long.  I know they've done studies on the typical attention span, so perhaps breaking them down into smaller chunks might be helpful and perhaps limiting scope.

I think it reminds me of some of these 75-100 page threads on CI that go off everywhere, and how it might be easier to digest if threads could be "scoped" and comments that were out of scope would be removed, and things kept on the topic at hand.  Let's say I want to speak only about, say, Prevost's latest antics and speech, where such a thing could easily lead to a 200-page general SV vs. R&R debate.

That's one reason that media have all moved toward "sound bytes", trying to get things out fast, since if they don't they lose people's attention spans quickly.

  • I saw something recently about how people are moving toward longer content, but I can't remember why. Some podcasters are frequenting over 2hrs now, and it helps that we have the fast playback. Matthew and GV are easy enough to listen to at 2.5x, so that brings most episodes down to 30min.

I can't say the content seems all that rich to me, so I get around to watching if I'm not intellectually burdened. So, during this episode I was assembling a circuit board, which is somewhat boring and tedious. It's not bad content, and is preferable to non Catholic stuff, but it just doesn't grab attention like some podcasters or topics would.

I like the lizard brain analogy. Life is easier when we form habits such that habits are of great importance toward self improvement and preparation for situations not yet experienced.

Gladis speaks too quietly or his mic is too far away, very hard to hear him when I'm driving because of road and car noise. I can hear you fine. I haven't watched the latest videos but the earlier ones he is hard to hear.

Well, I've definitely learned and improved over the past 17 episodes, so... All I can say there is, try the latest one. I can't go back and re-record the old ones ;)

  • Actually, I was a little annoyed GV was too loud this time, and you not enough.

I guess the solution would involve some test videos to calibrate a level monitoring system that will be the standard, and you just adjust your mic or volume to match GV.
