  • Amazon is not promoting ecuмenism, per se.  Amazon is trying to appeal to what they think Americans want, i.e., "Can't we all get along?"  They are using the characters of a priest and an imam because they are as ignorant of Catholicism and Islam as most Americans (including most American Catholics) are.

    While I find the ad disgusting, it will likely be a successful ad for the brand.

  • I agree with TGKS.  Amazon doesn't care the slghtest about ecuмenism; the only thing they are trying to do with this advertisement is to make more money.  They will probably be successful, too, given that most people tend to like smiling, feel-good, why-can't-we-all-just-get-along, emotional crap.
