Interesting. I guess everyone has his opinion regarding accents. I enjoy the accents of people from Jamaica and Haiti and some African nations who learned their English from Catholic sisters or the British. Ghetto rat English from the US or UK makes me grit my teeth. I hate it! I can understand it; I just don’t like it. I like Irish accents and Russian and Polish. They’re my background, so it’s natural. I like most New York accents, from the city to all over the state, only exception is ‘hood’ talk. I do NOT like White Southern Preacher (Protestant) accent or manner of speaking. There’s something in that culture that makes me cringe. I do not care for  Spanish accents, probably because I have difficulty understanding them. Same with Indian accents. If I get someone on the phone with a strong Indian accent, like they learned as an adult, just enough to work at the call center, I often give up and try again hoping for someone who’s more fluent. Most British accents I not only like, but can understand. (Exception, ghetto British)

I got the Adirondacks accent that gets me through most of the country. The city accent in nyc to Boston is mostly cuss words and unfortunately that has crept into my dialect a bit 😆 I try and fight but it takes some effort.
