  • Interesting!  Are you referring to British English or American?  I was watching some reruns of GPs Behind Closed Doors on YT. For some reason, I found the Indians/Pakis easier to understand when speaking British English. Don’t assume you’re the only one on CI who likes the accents. As I said, it’s a matter of opinion, not fact. And it doesn’t have anything to do with liking or approving of the individuals who have the accents.
Someone gave me a 👎🏼 for sharing my opinions. That’s rather trivial, no? Opinions on such matters are neither right nor wrong. If we did a survey of favorite colors, would you 👎🏼 a person for liking a different color?
I’m thinking a certain person may have down thumbed me because I have trouble understanding Spanish accents. That doesn’t mean I don’t like Spanish speaking people! All it means is I have difficulty understanding Spanish accented English!
As for Maltese, I’m not sure I could recognize the language itself if I heard it much less the accent in English. I will make a point to look it up!
Mostly British. I think is the most "Standard" English in Europe. I don't know who gave you a downvote, but It wans't me :laugh1:

Malta is a very small country. So it's normal that you never heard the accent or the languague. They speak Maltese, it's an interesting languague, it's mostly Arab (written with the Latin Alphabet) mixed with Italian and a bit of French. In English, for example they pronounce the 't' and 'd' like in Spanish. That's why it's easier for a Spanish speaker to understand.

My grandfather was from Luzerne Co, PA and he pronounced "th" like a "d".....these=deeze and those=doze.  I did some research and discovered that's a Dutch influence.  He was Polish though and spoke the language fluently.
