  • God is constantly with the Christian who is in the state of His Grace.  Our problem in recognizing His presence, I think, is directly a function of what goes on in our minds.  Our minds are crammed full of our jobs, worldly concerns, problems with this or that and so many other things.

There is so much to be gained by practicing His presence. He will make you laugh; He will give you something to think about, and so much more.

What can we do to have an awareness of God’s presence with us?

Here is a tool you can use – and after a while you won't need it because by practicing His presence you will begin to form an awareness of Him and it will become part of you.

If you are serious about doing this it should be very obvious to you that it will work perfectly well.  You just have to want to do it.

Almost all of us have a mobile device. Most of these devices have an alarm.  So, all you need to do is set the alarm for, let’s say, you coffee break at work at 10 a.m.  The alarm will remind you that it is time to practice His presence. After spending a few minutes with our Lord, set the alarm for the next time you think you will have an opportunity to visit with him.  If you keep doing this, in a short amount of time you won’t need the alarm to remind you. God will strongly reinforce you doing this; HE CAN’T WAIT FOR YOU TO GET STARTED.  START NOW!!!

  • My device has church bells for an alarm option so I use it to remind me to pray the Angelus.

  • It won't work for me.  We're not permitted to have cell phones on during working hours.  But there is a Methodist church whose bells chime at the liturgical hours, so I try to say a quick prayer in my heart when I hear them.

     ---------"The bells! The bells!"
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.
