  • has opened its eighth new convent since 1993.

The Adorers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Montmartre, also known as the Tyburn Nuns, were founded by Mother Marie Adèle Garnier in 1898.

The community has convents in England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Italy, New Zealand, and Nigeria. The newest convent is located in the Diocese of Langres, France.

Catholic News Service reported that Pope Francis has given the French convent a chalice that belonged to Pope Gregory XVI, the pontiff when Mother Garnier was born.

Pope Francis “wanted us to have it, and he himself has celebrated Mass with it,” said Mother Marie Xavier McMonagle, the community’s mother general. “We will be remembering the Pope every time we use it.”
