We have Orthodox friends, but no family. My wife, due to an odd set of circuмstances, was Byzantine rite. All of my other kids are Latin rite, although they will happily attend the Byzantine liturgy. He received permission to be ordained in the Byzantine rite. Often people do this so that they can be married. There are married Byzantine priests in this country, and it is apparent fine as long as they are ordained somewhere else. He was ordained in Rome, but is celibate.
He is happy that the Eastern Catholic Churches have more autonomy on a practical level now, but actually feels that the push toward illegitimate Latinization was mainly an American thing, and that Rome has done a lot to prevent this. Theologically he is what most people here would call a conservative NO type, or a semi-trad. (Of course, he celebrates the Byzantine Liturgy, and is not-bi-ritual so he has never celebrated the NO as a priest. So, basically, am I. I think the TLM is superior to the NO, but I don't think the NO is overtly heretical or invalid if celebrated properly.
