  • When I awoke today, like so many others experiencing an Easter celebration without the Mass and Sacraments of the Church.

I wanted to know what other Catholics did yesterday, in other words, can you write a little about how you managed to keep the very Holy Day of the Resurrection.

The entire week, in fact, seemed to me to be suspended in time, almost as if time stopped.  It was quite eerie.  I tried to meditate each day, and pretend I was actually experiencing the mysteries of the sorrowful rosary, but feel as if I failed.

On Easter morning, I slipped over at the Church to make a visit to the Blessed Sacrament, the Church was very quiet, just me, God plus a few other.  I closed my eyes and just prayed my rosary looking all-around at the sacred images.  After about 45 minutes I started hearing some noises in the back of the Church since I was seated toward the front, I had to turn around.  I was surprised to see the priest was hearing Confession. Also, I was amazed to see others had joined to visit Our Lord.  By this time there were about 20 people.

The idea came to me, if I went to Confession, I could politely ask Father if he would consider giving us Communion, and when I asked him, he said, yes.

With delight, and gratitude I was able to receive Our Lord!

After I came home, I watch the streaming live Mass over the Internet, live as it was happening and almost fell asleep while listening to the beautiful choir.  Thinking all along, so this is what it has come to.

Please write a little of how you spent your Easter.

Blessing at Easter, God Bless You,

    Please pray for my soul.

  • They took appts last week for 5 min slots for confession and communion. We were to arrive only 10 min before hand, wait in our cars until our turns, and leave immediately after. Fr used hand sanitizer and wiped the door knobs after each person. I wrote out my confession so I could read it quickly and not take the whole time. I am so grateful. Who knows if it was my last chance ever. May our brave priests who defy their superior's orders to deny sacraments to the faithful in these times be greatly rewarded.

  • It didn't seem much different to other years, except we are usually invited out to a friends for a meal. It was much the same as we spent every Sunday, and generally every Easter Sunday. We pray at home together, then have a little morning tea, then carry on with the day.

    No church to attend!

For lunch we had Aperole for an apperitivo. I cooked a lasagna, (it only needed to be assembled and popped in the oven) and then we had Cookies-and-Cream Ice Cream, followed by a glass of Prosecco.

    Followed up with a nanna-nap.

And of course our usual prayers that we say  throughout the day.

Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • First Easter ever without our children and grandchildren.  Someone from each family came over to pick up our traditional Polish Easter food to take home.  Very sad to eat alone on Easter.  Lit the candle at the cemetary for my  parents and brother.
Spent most of the day remembering past Easters and prayed.
Watched the beautiful Mass from Chicago.

  • On Saturday evening, after discussing the main points of what would have occurred during Holy Saturday services, we sang the Gloria, rang the bells, removed the coverings from our pictures and statues, and set out Easter flowers. We then read the readings for Easter Mass and sang at least a half dozen Easter hymns before bed. Sunday was fairly normal with a typical Easter lunch followed by hunting eggs and singing hymns. The main difference was we visited extended family online rather than in person.

  • My husband and I prayed Mass on line  on Saturday.  Then on Sunday we watched Mass online again. Beautiful and sad.   It was a beautiful sunny day. Since I had so many turkeys, I cooked a turkey, dyed Easter eggs.  We called  and text our family and friends.  (My sister and I made up a little which is good even though she is a liberal to the max.).  We prayed to God to keep everyone healthy.

May God bless you and keep you

  • I sang the Regina Caeli instead of the Angelus and I prayed an extra five decades of the rosary, the glorious mysteries.
