Make-up is fake. Personally, I see right through it.

Try not to see through things...  Make up could not really be considererd a form of deception.  Or maybe it could?

Most women probably consider make up as merely part of grooming.

And I'm actually stumped too because this isn't like the "SSPX girls wearing pants" where I could do a quick visual of the chapel to count the ladies in pants - so far only 2 in the last 18 months or so - but the wearing of make up is a little trickier.

Since Matthew brought it up, I probably will spend some time in the next several weeks noting how many ladies wear or don't wear make up.  I can think of none that do it to the extreme but I am thinking right now of this very lovely and young blond lady who has stunning red lips - I think she's using something there...   :surprised:

However, there are several ladies who have a spiritual glow that seems to emanate from them and they don't have a drop of make up on.

New Advent .org[/url]]The female sex is in some respects inferior to the male sex, both as regards body and soul. On the other hand, woman has qualities which man lacks. With truth does the writer on education, Lorenz Kellner, say: "I call the female sex neither the beautiful nor the weak sex (in the absolute sense). The one designation is the invention equally of sensuality and of flattery; the other owes its currency to masculine arrogance. In its way the female sex is as strong as the male, namely in endurance and patience, in quiet long-suffering, in short, in all that concerns its real sphere, viz., the inner life" (Lose Blätter", Collected by von Görgen; Freiburg, 1895, 50).

  • She must have some sick parents if they allowed her to even play football.

I have a vague notion of the term, but let us define -- what is ogling? If it's bad, it is scandalous that Catholics engage in it. If it's just paying attention to females in a way that emphasizes the fact that men & women are meant to be "couples" rather than "friends" -- basically showing that a man is interested -- then it's OK.

I've heard the term used in various contexts, some good, some bad.

"He's ogling the women at church" (meaning he's looking at them with attraction/fascination, deciding which one he wants to court)

I've also heard it to mean real "cad" behavior, like pinching girls on the butt.

I've never heard of the word used in a friendly way, as you suggest it might be. I suppose it could be used jokingly or sarcastically. I suppose many words could be used less than seriously, but I don't know if that's helpful in defining it. And I'm pretty sure that physical contact takes it to a completely different level.

I've never heard it used to describe anything more physical than what's in this definition:

    Quote
    o·gle
    1. To stare at.
    2. To stare at impertinently, flirtatiously, or amorously.
    ...

    http://www.thefreedictionary.com/ogle

I do recognize a difference between staring at the face, and looking at the body as though hypnotized! I meant this visual habit of either staring at the body, or taking several quick glances, in a habitual manner. Basically, it's the failure to keep custody of the eyes.

“Can anyone tell me why a man can be on the cheerleading but a woman can’t play football?! Please tell me.”

    Men are cheerleaders now?  :furtive:

Cheerleading started out all male.  Should have stayed that way.

    Interesting. Thanks.

  • I want to say that I know how this sort of thing happens.  We have a 4 year old daughter.  She is very, very choleric.  I discipline her a lot.  She speaks her mind, isn't afraid of much, including spiders and very tall trees, and is built rather stocky.  She is very different from her slim, even spirited older sister.

As such, I can see how easy it would be for her to become interested in all these boy sports, especially if we applauded her successes.

It takes a lot of work in this modern time to help little girls like this become feminine and embrace their womanhood.  Some girls are just naturally very girly, while others are not.

In this age of feminism run wild, it's so easy for mothers and fathers to encourage this manish behavior in their daughters.  Even more so if the parents have only 2 children where both are girls.  I see this a lot, where one girl is allowed to be feminine and sweet and the other girl is encouraged to become heavy and muscular and play sports.  It's weird, but happens frequently.
